That’s just ridiculous @wild edges ... Sainsbugs text and email us if they’re going to be more than ten minutes early šŸ™„ Ā
I take it you have/will be contacting ā€˜the Management’? Ā

However, although I know how important routine is in settling children, I’m afraid I would’ve answered the door ... growing up on a farm with livestock, there was often a crisis that needed averting and we children had to learn to be adaptable. Ā Not judging, just saying šŸ˜‰Ā

I probably would have done if I'd known he wasn't coming back. It's trickier with covid though as I can't really take him down with me while I deal with the shopping. It was just bad timing. 10 minutes earlier or later and it would probably have been fine. They've rebooked for tonight though so hopefully that goes a bit better. Ā

I agree they should have contacted you if arriving outside the agreed delivery window, but expecting the driver to come back later after a failed delivery is somewhat wishful thinking.Ā  The driver had presumably managed to deliver everything else early so sitting around for an hour and a half wouldn't be appealing.Ā  I'm not saying the driver was right, but more thinking about human nature on a cold, wet winter night.

I wouldn't blame the driver if that was the case but time slots are booked for a reason and they can't just assume people are at home. We've had them turn up early before just because they're doing another drop near by and it made more sense to do ours afterwards. They've all called in advance to check it would be ok though.Ā

I try to book one of Sainsbugs ā€˜green’ slots which somehow enables me to book a delivery when the van is in my area ... makes sense but no idea if other supermarkets offer that.Ā

I don't know if it helps, but if you can get or have Amazon online you can at least get some food shopping.

Sorry I don't know exactly what to use or how to.
Ā I know we have a prime account and it is called Amazon Fresh.

    It is called Amazon fresh.

They always seem to have slots or deliveries evenĀ  on the same day.
They do not have all you want.
We have got some basics like bread and milk when we have not been able to get a proper supermarket slot.
But if you are worried about going out as we are, and cannot get a big supermarketĀ  delivery.
It might be another option or life line for some .

NO idea why some of my posts have no paragraphs, happened the other day on this thread.
So sorry if my post is unreadable.
I have left some bigger gaps this time.

  • On the SM delivery front,Ā  we have had,Ā  Sains turn up over an hour ahead before now, we have also started the green slots, where you have aĀ  4 hour window.Ā  We still like some things from W,rose but we / they seem to have ITĀ  issues at the moment.Ā  We had a slot which my OH rescheduledĀ  for another day & they tried to deliver today.Ā  We phoned we realised they were still coming & CS said they had cancelled it but he still came.Ā  He was very good about it & just took it away.Ā

We always book the same 2-hour slot from the only supermarket which will deliver here - but they've never brought the goods during that slot.Ā  The first time or two they rang to ask if it was ok for them to deliver in the morning, since they were driving past (the slot is 4-6pm), and since we're retired and in lockdown, that was ok.Ā  Then they'd just turn up without warning, any time they were passing in the morning, which was fine except for the time we were out in the village having our flu jabs, and they left the boxes on the front doorstep... and last week they were 2 hours late.Ā  But the delivery drivers are overwhelmed with orders, and we're just grateful not to have to go out and be breathed over in shops at the moment.Ā Ā  :)

I use Morrisons and they have delivered early but only after calling to confirm that it would be OK.Ā
