I have just popped out to the Coop and received a most odd phone call while I was in the car.

     “Hello.”
    ”Is that Ben Cotto?”
”Yes,” I barked suspected a scammer, “what do you want?”
”I’d like to talk to you about the financial markets.”
”Good for you. Well done. Top marks.”
    ”Are you trading right now?”
”Eh? I’m going to the shops to buy peas and potatoes. Is that what you mean?”

Apparently it wasn’t. She hung up.

You're right. It sounds like a boiler room scam.  People who trade on the stock market get enticed in to a get rich quick scheme.  Usually they lose the lot.

No matter how much I dislike Trump (or more correctly, thought of him as a bad joke), I'm not sure Twitter banning him for what he 'may' post is sensible move. Isn't that a slippery slope? If they had banned him because of what he had done, then fine.
'...Twitter permanently bans Donald Trump from its platform, citing ‘risk of further incitement of violence’...'
    ..if that had read:
'...Twitter permanently bans Donald Trump from its platform, citing ‘incitement of violence’...'
...then I don't see anyone could argue with that assuming 'incitement to violence' is a twitter rule breaker that is applied to everyone.

The insanity is that the man is still in control of the US - and if his potential 'tweets' are a threat, than what threat his control of the US?

I've just got my new debit card  2025 😮. I don't even want to think about what life will be like this time next year.
I want to be optimistic about when the next replacement is due but it's awful hard

Someone set up a Twitter account and used it to copy all Trump's tweets word for word. They were banned for breaking the rules in very short order. Trump has enjoyed a level of freedom of speech that most others aren't allowed. Partly I imagine it's because Twitter have made quite a bit of money from his use of their platform.
I love the comments going around though that point out that Trump and his cronies supported a wedding cake company for refusing to do cakes for gay weddings as it was their right as a company to make that choice. Now they're trying to deny Twitter the same rights to refuse Trump an account.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The comment that tickled me related to resignations of erstwhile loyalists in protest at Trump’s behaviour:

Who is it that says woodlice only eats detritus? Just been peeling & cutting celeriac for soup.  What looked like a small hole near the root just went on & on lost nearly a 1/4 of it full of the little beggars 😡

@Lyn, sorry l didn't realise you were going to open a new swop thread. When l didn't see one l opened it and asked the Mods to close last year's. It wasn't me reporting you as a spammer, honest.
In the spirit of the thread, it started off quite sunny but has now reverted to the usual grey and gloomy.
