OH has been clearing up the tool room and I've been doing the GCs bedroom, especially the toy and games cupboard. I was waiting for the family to help themselves first, which they've now done. We've been to the tip with a trailer load and the car boot was full.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hey everyone -- and happy christmas to all in advance in case I am a bit absent over the next few days . Just did another food delivery drop off to parents ( and a distant wave ) -- hopefully that's them sorted till i can repeat it mid next week. Dad looked perky enough so his arm can't have hurt much from the vaccine.Â
Just back from a lovely day walking in cold, misty, mossy woods with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 bouncy granddaughters. We even had a picnic, socially distanced on tree stumps, looking at a red squirrel... it was great to see them all, even if it wasn't quite a "normal" Christmas gathering. We exchanged gifts to open on The Day. Even the 6-year-old remembered to keep her distance, too. Wish we could have hugged... Â
It sounds as if you're really getting sorted now, @Busy-Lizzie . It must be such a relief to have your OH with you at last - that flight was just in time!
Hope Gabriel is on the mend, @Yviestevie , and your daughter is on more of an even keel after the funeral. Your family has had such a tough time.
@Allotment Boy - hope your GD continues to improve, and there's no recurrence of the problem.
Â
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sounds fun, if a trifle cold for a picnic @Liriodendron, glad you could see your family anyway. Will make memories of a different type of Xmas for the grandchildren, which they'll probably always remember. @Busy-Lizzie, you'll be so glad when you finish all that clearing up, hope you and OH are enjoying being together again. @Allotment Boy pleased to hear your GD is doing okay, must have been a horrible experience for you all. I walked down to the local hospital earlier to collect batteries but they wouldn't let me have a double quantity - you'd think they could organise that for elderly people to keep them away from the hospital amid the pandemic. It doesn't make sense.Â
Thanks everyone, I know others have worse problems but we are always cautious with this particular GD she had a "difficult" start in life lots of hospital etc, trouble is she is very stoic if you ask how she is she the answer is always "fine", even when she is not, because she hates all the fuss.Â

Fingers crossed @Allotment Boy that things ease now.
