Morning all,  Hubby is off to get some fresh bread for tomorrow and Christmas morning, any tips on keeping it as fresh as possible welcome.  Will be making mince pies and custard tart this afternoon.  Have some washing to do and Hubby is going to vacuum and empty bins when he gets back.  Thats it then, no more housework or shopping will be done until after Christmas.
We are all keeping our fingers crossed that Gabriel stays well over Christmas.
Hope you all stay safe and well too.

Thanks Pat.  The reason for my running, Hubby is 7 years younger than me, but more importanly, 7 inches taller, and he walks REALLY quickly, it's not a problem on the beach, at some point, he will stop,l admire the sea, etc, but when we are out round the pavements, I have to run every now and then to catch up.
  • Hurrah!  The washing machine has been fixed for the princely sum of just over £82.00 including a new pump. 😎

Went to the SM this morning to do our usual weekly shop, it was rammed when we arrived there but thinned out towards lunch time and no queue at the till. Certainly no shortages here, every shelf was overflowing with goodies!
So pleased to hear your washing machine is fixed Dove......clean clothes now for Christmas.   :)
I have my slot booked on Christmas morning with daughter and son on Zoom, I think they are going to have a busy day fitting everyone in.

I did mine too @Floralies, a day early for me and much busier than usual tho no queues at the tills.  The only thing I couldn't find was rye flour so buckwheat will have to do.

That's good @Dovefromabove.   Sally needs a new front suspension.  600€!

The sun is trying to shine after a dull and cloudy start.  I'm off to see the chooks and check the broad beans for signs of life.  Maybe after Casablanca.

Hello folks. Collected our Click & Collect at the SM this morning, thought there would be massive queuing as it's a very small carpark but got through reasonably quickly. Had a few subs but nothing that mattered. We have car trouble though, a very ominous sounding rattle/grind/groan from the back and it's not the exhaust. Weird because it hasn't moved since I drove it about 15 miles 2 weeks ago. Garage is looking at it tomorrow for us fortunately but we're not going anywhere anyway. Daughter will have her car here if she manages to get home.
I've got the tree up but now need OH to get the decs down from a high cupboard - but he's also watching  Casablanca upstairs. Not sure what the cat will make of it, I don't think he's seen a big Xmas tree before, might be interesting!
Just heard that one of my elderly uncles has just died, not unexpected, but sad at this time of year. He was one of six and also had six of his own, so I won't be able to attend his funeral. He was a very talented, self taught artist and used to paint big murals in London restaurants and all over his house - rather mind boggling to say the least.

    Evening.
Was suppose to finish early today but it was too busy. Only had a mince pie all day. Worthwhile to stay and get a patient sorted though. I then got absolutely drenched walking to the car. My coat, feet and hair all soaking.

We are all bringing food in for a Christmas Eve lunch tomorrow. I haven’t had time to bake but I have some profiteroles in the freezer so they will do.

    Have a pleasant evening all.

  • Don't you just love how they've waited until all the second homers have left London and the Home Counties and got to their cottages in Southwold, Aldeburgh and the North Norfolk coast before moving us into Tier 4 ... we've known for days that it was going to happen, the local press has been full of it .... the washing machine repair man said North Norfolk is packed with second homers, a friend who's aunt lives near Cromer says the locals are spitting mad, and my son says the A12 is rammed with London registered cars heading northwards for the Suffolk coast.
My brother says that during the last lockdown the police escorted some Londoners back to whence they came because the Southwold residents reported them.  The local press are reporting that one family even sent their luggage to Norfolk by Parcel Force so tht if the police stopped them they wouldn't look as if they were planning to stay.  😠
