I've never liked them @punkdoc - too sickly sweet, even though I have a sweet tooth.Ā The mixed peel too. BoakĀ C'mas cake and pud are totally different thoughĀ I've just had a look on that Covid thread. Wish I hadn't bothered. I'm saying nowt, 'cos it would get me banned...

My wife makes mince pies , but if we want any cake or pud we buy very small ones as so few of family want it & we end up eating it just to use it up. Since my treatments a few years ago I have to watch eating a lot of dried fruits etc. as my gut can't cope with too much of that sort of thing.Ā Managed a long morning in the garden, did more leaf clearing and finally finished planting the bulbs, I had been waiting for the summer bedding to finish in the pots, but gave up and finally hoiked them out & re-planted.
Iām so angry about the Covid thread ... I wrote a rant ... but i havent posted it ... far too personal ... suffice to say we could all plead special cases š”Ā
Better make some mince pies soon ... mince pies and pudding wine to soothe the savage beast .... šĀ

I can't decide whether it's utter naivety, and being delusional, or the 'other thing' @Dovefromabove Even Stevie Wonder could work it out. I liken it to BMW drivers. They can only see to the end of their bonnet and that's about it. If you're lucky. Then it's too late.... Anyway, enough of that. Rick Wakeman made me laugh out loud on JW. He is just brilliantĀ Ā

Not heard of that Pdoc - I'll have a google in a mo. Had a lovely quiet afternoon in the garden - cleared the polytunnel and brought in a few tender greens to see if I can keep them going through the winter. Garlic is in, some onion sets started in modules, all the bulbs I haven't managed to get into the borders are now in pots so at least they'll survive and I can pot them out in the summer. It's been a really nice day - dry, mild, very still. OH is cooking dinner so I can put my feet up and feel smug for a bitĀ I made mince for mince pies a couple of weeks ago - basically stewed plums with dried fruit and nuts and without the refined sugar (I use coconut sugar), no suet in those. I've made it a few times now, nice and light and not too sweet. So I can have a HUUUGE dollop of clotted cream with mine and not feel quite as guiltyĀ

I have deleted more than I have posted on there too.Ā
Mince pies not my favourite either - bit too sweet and too much pastry and these days I have to make my own mincemeat.Ā Ā Much happier making a Creole Xmas pud where I mix the fruits, soak them in booze for a week and then bake a week before Xmas.Ā We end up eating it during the early spring gardening blitz after a good afternoon scragging the garden.
Not going near the Covid thread.

I can't be bothered with the stress of it @AuntyRach. Life's too short for that billhooks. Literally - for some poor sods. They sound good @raisingirl. No one else likes them much here anyway, so I don't have to feel any guilt about not making themĀ Ā I've done nowt outside, other than feeding Dave and his chums, and watching the coal tits burying sunflower hearts in the front garden. Wee soulsĀ Hopefully, tomorrow will be drier and I can do something. Not sure if all the buses are off, or if it was just today, so I may be on taxi duty again.Ā
