Sorry to hear your news @Obelixx. If you're next of kin, they'd be obliged anyway, to inform you. Difficult feelings to process though, regardless of the circumstances.Ā
    Night @Pat E.Ā
I'm having trouble with a toe, so I've decided to stay put today. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Sore to walk on and then it 'wears off', but it feels odd when I wiggle it. Been like that for a few days now.Ā

Thank you ladies.Ā  Ā I was "found" on FB by mum's cousin's daughter who is one of 2 executors.Ā  I haven't seen her since I was 16 and my dad left home, thus putting an end to family visits, mostly because mum and her cousin finally consummated a teenage romance thwarted by an interfering Catholic family.Ā  Ā Hard to do family visits when you're having an affair and one daughter knows.Ā  Ā

It seems the other executor, my niece and now in her mid 40s, had emptied the house of all contents including documents when mum went into a home a few years ago, hence the search on FB.Ā  Ā There should be a legacy for Possum and that is all I would expect the solicitors to concern themselves with given that I have already stated we can't leave France.

@Fairygirl - maybe a bruise or arthritis starting up?Ā  I get that in the three middle toes on each foot.Ā  Just have to walk thru it so they don't seize up.

Four eggs today.Ā  I need to go and clean their hen house and refresh all their bedding as it will be even colder tonight.

Sounds like keeping your usual busy self is a good idea @Obelixx. I have found that lockdown can be a useful excuse if you need one.Ā  Entitles you to do as you feel and not what's expected. Sending you my very best wishes and hugs x

Families eh? It can be odd what we find out - or not. We found out some rather strange things about my uncle when he died a few years ago. It was rather sad too.

No bruises, no swelling, not an arthritic painĀ @Obelixx, and just started suddenly. I don't know if it's some sort of minor fracture or similar.Ā  Very odd. I can still feel it when the initial pain wears off, but it's the kind of pain that makes you limp for ten minutes or so.Ā  I don't remember dropping anything heavy on it eitherĀ  ;)

Sorry to hear about your mum @Obelixx, I think you can leave France for funerals and other exceptional things if you need to. Take care. x

it could well be a broken toe @Fairygirl and probably not best to ignore it ? if you don't want to visit A&E, can you splint it yourself?
I'm not surprised you feel a bit odd @Obelixx - a strange situation indeed. My best wishes to you.
Your energy levels do you much credit @DOrdogne_Damsel and I bet your kitchen smells divine.
@WonkyWomble, thinking about your lovely trug - are you active on any local media sites? Could you postĀ  a 'please look out for my special trug' kind of thing? Would you recognise it on Ebay?

What about gout? I'm not casting nasturtiums on your love of port, but me old bro developed gout a few years back and the pain can be a bit of a pain..

  • A teetotal family member has had gout ... it can be due to other dietary factors, or purely 'just one of those things'.Ā Ā

There is also something I've read recently about problems with toes and Long Covid ...Ā

There's no swelling, no redness, no pain when you wiggle it, nothing visible, just a stabby pain when it's flexing as you walk, and then it settles enough. I just walk a bit flat footed on it until then. It's the toe next to the pinky one. The ones which often don't have toenails, but the absence of any bogtrotting on hills of late means I actually have toenailsĀ  :D
Oh well - it'll just have to get on with it. I'm not going near any hospital A&E dept. If it suddenly drops off I might rethink.Ā  ;)
I'll lay off the port anyway...just in case...
