Morning all,Ā afternoon @Pat E @steephillI'm equally upset about the trug,Ā a gift from an old friend made by her father,Ā beautiful it was! Thank you everyone for moral support.Ā Today is another day and a frosty one at that! Glad I'm ironing today!!!! Ā Kettle is on @Dovefromabove
Morning all/afties, evening @Pat E. The ice cream will have helped the heat. You could always have used the pies to stay cool tooĀ Hope you can get some replacement tools to keep you going @WonkyWomble. People are a***holes.Ā Back to wet stuff here. The dry day was nice while it lasted. I'd happily have frost every day, even though we don't always get the full sunny day to follow it. Been even wetter than usual this year here. We've not had any frost [apart from a very little yesterday]Ā since end of September/early October, which is very unusual.Ā I hope the neighbour gets his gutter taken down before the gale force winds come back later. Might be tricky to sort if it's any more bent and tangled than it looks!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning all , afternoon Pat E -- @D0rdogne_Damsel your kitchen sounds like my idea of heaven but I don't have the requisite skills to get people to pay good money for what I make! Cold but clear-ish this morning so I'm going to see if I can get a bit of small diy patching up of mortar outside ( it's on a flat roof , touch wood not leaking yet but probably best fixed pre winter). I'm really not very handy at all so luckily patch won't be visible from outside-- did pay someone to look at it in spring but bits coming off again, so figured I'd try myself. Wish me luck !
Morning all. It's -1° outside but there is no pretty frost, can't have been much dew.
I had made to scale plans on graph paper of the rooms in my new house and cut out paper pieces to scale for my furniture so I could see how it would fit. It took some time to do. When family came in the holidays I removed them from the kitchen table and put them somewhere safer. Now they have completely disappeared, I hope I haven't thrown them away, I can't remember where I put them. Today I will be making new plans. The seller sent rough drawings with measurements which I stored on my laptop.
Your house must smell wonderful @D0rdogne_Damsel, I love Christmas pudding and cake. I don't make cake anymore, OH isn't keen and I don't need all those calories. I usually buy a pudding from a charity fair before Christmas but there aren't any this year. I shall miss the church one and the fair by the UK Police Horse retirement place near BrantƓme.
Morning @Fairygirl we had Friday this morning,Ā really chilly house on waking and it's taking ages to get warm! Just as well I'm doing ironing work today! š hello @Desi_in_London thank you for sympathy regarding my tools,Ā you welcome to join the vigilante group if you like!Ā
@Busy-Lizzie, I remember using the graph paper method as a youngster rearranging my bedroom,Ā being small and the youngest i always got the box room.Ā Then when we moved to the farm i had a proper sized room for the first time and lovely @Dovefromabove decorated it in beautiful Laura Ashley wallpaper with matching homemade curtains. Luckily my goth faze didn't kick in until a few years laterĀ
@WonkyWomble I have acres of Laura Asley material given me by a friend.Ā She'd bought it for a home in Vancouver and then they moved to Belgium so it was stashed and then they bought a rather grand house and decided it needed grander fabrics so she offloaded them to me.Ā 1990s and much better quality and closer weave than the stuff I bought for my bedroom and summer frocks in the 70s.Ā Doesn't really fit here either so may well end up becoming antique.
Bright and sunny again here but perishing at dawn.Ā Ā I have ribollita on the go and OH is pottering outside.Ā Major cleaning this pm or tomorrow morning depending on mood.
Feeling a bit odd today.Ā I have learned that my estranged mother died in October and have been contacted by the solicitor to see if I have any special requests about her funeral.Ā Given that she made her own plan withaĀ local funeral director and paid for it years ago plus the fact that I cannot leave France at the mo I find it all a bit strange.
minor tho compared to what some people are having to deal with so hugs and comfort and lots of chocolate to all those in need.
Nevertheless, please accept a ((hug)) @Obelixx Ā ....Ā Ā we have experienced a similar situation in our extended family ... never easy. I've a feeling that the solicitor may have used the 'excuse' of asking if you have any requests as a way of informing you of her death.Ā I've known someĀ very humane solicitors who would find it hard not to inform close relatives, no matter how 'distant'.Ā Ā
