Hope your brother feels better at home @Dovefromabove As you say, tough times ahead I'm afraid.
My daughter and I have been wrestling with all sorts of online ID checks and installing various apps on my new phone - enough to make me want to scream. Have to go to main PO today to get various docs certified, I didn't really want to go into town just yet.
Good idea to get your pastry done DD while you are waiting in.
Best wishes to Punkdoc, it's horrible when you've can't sleep. Hope @Hostafan1 is feeling OK and looking in occasionally.
    Odd dream @Floralies.
I will celebrate my French Saints Day with chocolate later.

  • Thanks @Busy-Lizzie and every one for your kind thoughts ... bro was very keen to get home yesterday so the 'news so far' was given by three junior doctors ... registrars?... if I heard him correctly he will be having a Zoom meeting with the consultant at the end of the week to hear what he considers the best course of action. šŸ¤žĀ Ā

  • All the best to your brother @Dovefromabove, good that he's home and can build his strength for the next part.Ā
It must have been the night for odd dreams, I dreamt my ndn were having an extension and they built part of it over our front door, but it couldn't have been our houseĀ  as the drive was sloping the wrong way.Ā

Hi folks,Ā  Finally I can come on here with some good news.Ā  Secondborn's test was negative so she is back at school and she can see the boys again.Ā  We are all really relieved.
Sorry to hear that the news wasn't better for your brother @Dovefromabove I hope the treatment will be successful.
I've been using Voltarol on my knee and taking non ibruprofen painkillers and it's much better, still the odd twinge but the constant pain has gone.Ā
Haven't been able to summon up any enthusiasm to get in the garden and have been doing a lot of puzzles and knitting.Ā
    Hope everyone is OK.

Very glad to hear your good news @Yviestevie ((hugs)) ... onwards and upwards eh?Ā  ;)
At least if this situation continues much longer the country will be well supplied with warm woolly jumpers 🧶

At last @Yviestevie! A huge relief for you all.Ā  :)
That could have been handy though @Allotment Boy - bit of extra roomĀ  ;)
@Lizzie27 - my 'pooter has been updating, and now it's running even more slowly. There's no way I can stop it doing it - can only delay it. Now I'll have to spend an hour removing all the cr*p that's been put on it that is of no use or interest to meĀ  >:)
I don't have a smartphone. I have no need for one. I hate phones anyway, so mine is only for emergencies and texts when needed.Ā
Managed a pretty dry walk - a guid breeze up the kilt. Timed it well as it's ferdiddling down again. Dave has seen off the other pigeon trying to muscle in on his restaurant facilitiesĀ  :D

  • @Fairygirl not that good we would have been met by a brick wall when we opened the door. šŸ™

    You'd need to get a sledgehammer @Allotment BoyĀ  ;)
I meant to say to @Desi_in_London - I had a look at the place you got the knee braces. There's one or two that are similar to mine and slightly cheaper, so I may take a look at those when I need mine replacing again. :)
They're also wrap around which might be easier - mine pull on, which is awkward after a long day, and they have metal hinges. The biggest problem is that the metal eventually wears through the material and rubs my leg which can be a problem when you're out all day. Mine are Donjoy, which I see that outlet has too.Ā  Ā

The skip was collected this afternoon. I've been taking it easy, watched a bit of TV and chatted with OH and a friend on the phone. Now going to light the woodburner.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • @Fairygirl -- yes my one is also a pull on ( it was more stable for the days when my knee used to collapse under me ) -- and I suspect I was just too cheap to buy the donjoy you have --- I'm not sure they had the wrap around ones they have now. Fwiw,Ā  my consultant at the time did warn me against anything that was solely neoprene/ rubber ( ie without any rigid metal or plastic inserts) "that's a legwarmer not a brace"Ā
Kindness is always the right choice.
