Good & bad news @Dovefromabove it's never easy at any time but this end of the year always seems to be worse for this kind of thing.

Hello everyone. Another hot day starting here. Sigh. We will go to town for a few food items just for the excuse of getting out of the house since I won’t be out there gardening.

I filled blowfly traps around each of the doors two days ago.  The traps are so full of flies scrambling over each other that they can find their way out. I’m trying to thing of how I can empty the traps without more escaping. 😡

Here are photos of two traps.

Need to be careful about opening your mouth to speak when outside. 😂

Buy the way, I meant to answer the question about who reads to me in bed. I don’t encourage that sort of thing because he speaks through half closed lips. 😂 It doesn’t take long to develop the habit of keeping your lips closed in Australia. It explains our way of mumbling.

Dove, sorry I meant to respond to your News about your brother.  I’m very glad for him that the medicos have sorted some of it out for him. Sorry about your cousin though.  It’s all stressful at the moment. ❤️

  • Morning all,

Good and bad news @Dovefromabove, fingers crossed for all, very difficult times for so many.  :(

Gosh @Pat E, I thought my fly traps were big! That is a scary amount of flies. Lovely flowers though. :)

I managed a little stroll around the garden at CdeG yesterday whilst waiting for a customer to collect his Christmas cakes, surprised how much colour is left out there. I took a few quick snaps, hopefully this link will work;  https://photos.app.goo.gl/Pkophkp75Dyq5h4X7

These were my cakes all packed up and ready to go. The customer is going back to the UK today so needed an early collection. He was very happy with them. I was relieved to get them out the door all safe and sound, as I was trying to squeeze the cake box into the bag it had a little wobble!  :ohttps://photos.app.goo.gl/Ra29DPWcXaVjAycAA

Today I a meeting up with a member of staff to go though the whole order list, payment list and baking list to try and get everything to balance, it was making me go cross eyed when I was trying to do it myself.   :dizzy:

Charlie came home with a school report too yesterday, he is doing really well, maths, history and French top marks, missed handing in his English homework - he really doesn't take it seriously because it' s so simple and of  course was penalised for it obviously. The annoying thing is it would have taken him all of 30 seconds to do it!  :#

Today I am making a dozen individual Christmas Cakes, all out of baked bean tins, lovely presents and all pre-ordered so no stress about getting them sold. Hopefully then I can spend the weekend in the garden.

Good day all, catch up later. :)

Good morning.  @Dovefromabove - so sorry to hear about your latest family news.  I hope your cousin has a good support team.

@D0rdogne_Damsel  I have done my Christmas pud and made mincemeat for the pies.  I give them to my neighbours at Christmas, two of whom are nursing staff, one in the Covid ward.  I didn't have enough Armangnac for the mincemeat, so I put a tablespoonful of Lemoncino on top of each jar.  Do you think it will work?!!!  :p

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Hi There,

I am sure that will be fine @tuikowhai34, quite a nice twist even.

  • Good morning all  :) ☕

Thanks for the flowers @Pat E ... they've made us smile  :)  ... but you can keep those flies thank you very much ... maybe if Aussies wear their  Covid masks all the time they won't have to mumble 😷

Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone ... it does feel as if my family's getting stuff thrown at it from all quarters at the moment ... but I know there are plenty of other folk who have more than 'just Covid' to deal with it ... life going on has it's negatives as well as positives.  🙄

Oooh Limoncello 🍸  now you're talking  @tuikowhai34 ... all that Vitamin C ... must be good for us 😏

Spammer's on a couple of threads about willow if anyone fancies flagging.
Cloudy and very quiet and still here. Dry though, for now. Hope I can get out later though, as I have a shrub I could do with planting.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
