I had a look at some of the photos online and think I've spotted my grandmother (my Little Gardening Granny that I've mentioned on here before), so I've been emailing the English Heritage Volunteers, and various cousins ... it seems that I may be right ... she is on a list of VAD nurses at Wardown Hospital Luton, starting at the time when Wrest Park was shutting down ... it's a shame that the photos aren't clearer but I think I've spotted 'the family nose' šĀ Cousin with the early family albums is going to see what she can find.Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I hadn't noticed anything strange about your nose @Dovefromabove
@D0rdogne_Damsel have you tried "Kiabi", a French clothes shop, for clothes for Charlie? My daughter orders clothes online from them for her 3 sons. Prices are reasonable.
There was a lot of traffic and a lot of roadworks this morning but the normally full car park at Leclerc was half empty and the SM was very uncrowded. I enjoyed shopping even more than usual, especially as it's almost 4 weeks since I went. A lot of stuff was taped off, toys, electrical goods, clothes, but gardening stuff was available. Didn't buy anything, I feel between gardens at the moment.
I had been worried about ink for the printer as everyone was out of stock because of Covid and I have to print those daft forms every time I go out, even if it's just to the local bins. But the office shop had had a delivery so now I have a pack of coloured ink and a compatible black one. OH had sent a black one by post nearly 2 weeks ago but it still hasn't arrived.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Pat E we keep a camping stove just so we can still make a hot drink if we have a power cut.Ā The only other gas appliance is the heating system,Ā oddly in spite of being in suburbia we get quite a lot of power outages here.
Sorry we missed your birthday @Obelixx. Did you have the fire brigade standing by for the candles?Ā Old jokes are the best.Ā Hope you had a splendid day anyway. Birthdays are a bit overrated though aren't they?Ā Can you tinker with the photos on the 'pooter and sharpen them @Dovefromabove ? I managed to do it with some of my mum and dad, and they came out quite well even when printed.Ā Delayed my walk till the afternoon as I had to take daughter to work. I wish they'd decide whether buses are off or on, and not this half assed malarkey. It was a bit drier though which was good, Wind's gotten stronger so it was quite brisk. I see the neighbour got his guttering fixed, Hoped they glued it firmly into place...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

What a to do with your barns though, sounds like you might have a long wait to get them repaired.
