    Thank you @Lizzie27 @Fairygirl @punkdoc and @Dovefromabove .Ā  It was a quietly satisfying day.Ā  Not so much today tho.Ā

I have been doing battle with financial submissions for a council grant for our patchwork association because our treasurer's elder brother is ill - coma following triple bypass - and she's got that to fret and run about for plus her own new knee plus her 96yr old mother who still lives at home on her own.Ā  That's hard enough but left me with 14 pages of forms to fill but I do like the way French encourage what they call the Vie Associative as it keeps communities together and must save a fortune in social services.

Other than that, chappy has been to see to the boiler which is a very odd beasty.Ā  Ā Unlike the one we had in Belgium where we made such decisions it seems to think it needs to decide what temperature will be most efficient for the water in the pipes and radiators and has a sensor to tell it how cold it is outside.Ā  All very well but the bit between the sensor and a valve is stuck so the last chap just bypassed the clock.Ā  I don't want to get up at 6am in a cold house to go and turn on the boiler so it's warm when we get up so this chap has bypassed the sensor.Ā  We'll see.Ā  He's reluctant to get into the innards to replace the stuck valve dooberry.

Then the roof chappy came and there was much sucking of teeth.Ā  Ā He doesn't do removal of wreckage.Ā  He doesn't do roof beam carpentry.Ā  He can stick the panels on if someone else does the rest.Ā  That's about 30 companies contacted so far, one keen and "can do" and one no can do.Ā  Two only do houses and terracotta tiles.Ā  The rest - silence.

Clearly no problems with the roofing economy in the VendƩe!

I find Leclerc really very civilised of late @Busy-Lizzie altho I could cheerfully hang, draw and quarter the idiot who "landscaped" the car park at Luçon to be roly poly rather than flat.  He and the git that designed SM trolleys to be unruly and unsteerable when full are clearly related.

Difference between a SM trolley and an Essex girl?
SM trolley has a mind of its own.

    Please don't be offended.

  • Oh bless you @Fairygirl I didn’t realise you were doing that ... but it’s a different pic ... it’s the second one on hereĀ https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/about-us/search-news/first-world-war-nurse-identified/

I think the shorter nurse framed by the dark doorway may be my granny.Ā

  • Thank you šŸ™

Hmm ... I’m not sure ... the eyes nose forehead and face shape look right, but she looks older than I would expect ... but that may be the lighting. I think we’ll have to see the photos my cousin has ...

I couldn't get it any sharper unfortunately. Hopefully, you'll get a better idea from the cousinsĀ  :)
I just watched our news here, and I had to laugh when the bloke said, with a smile,Ā  'Here's Sean with the weather. Apparently it's been raining'.Ā  :D

Oops, I really meant to be on time with your birthday @Obelixx and now I'll have to send belated wishes while wearing a Dunce's hat.
