We are home .... we had a lovely time ... a walk along the front in the teeth of a gale ... very good cod and marvellous chips seated in a sheltered corner near the pier, accompanied by a family of gorgeous starlings who whistled, clicked and trilled at us in the hope of some crumbs ... then another amble along the front and a visit to the fishmonger for some fish for a fish pie (that’s gone in the freezer) and a crab for linguine for tonight’s supper. A really lovely day ... now I’ll read back ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hurrah! @Hostafan1 Mine is on. I always get a bit chilly after I get home anyway, and it isn't overly warm. There was a lovely red admiral when I got the washing in - he landed on a shirt as I lifted it off, and then flew off to the nearby plants.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Lovely pic @Fairygirl -we had a visit from a Red Admiral earlier in the week it was around for ages, it kept doing a lap of the garden & then landing to take on more nectar so good to see.
Nasty surprise outside just now. We've had a short burst of some of the winds they forecast - horrendous noise. OH went to let the dogs out just before their bedtime and found 2 huge sheets of corrugate iron and some timber outside the annex door. Upon inspection, the roofing has come off the back side of the garage where we store the results of our quarrying, the two barns have lost their roof and there are big wooden beams driven into the grass at absurd angles.
Tornado?
Anyway, too dark to see much more and the chucks are OK and we have insurance for th ebuildings. Fingers crossed for my treasures in pots and in the ground.
I have seen no red admirals this year @Fairygibut enjoyed yours.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Oh no, @Obelixx, I hope it won't be too difficult to get them repaired, but good that they are insured. The sherry came from England, brought it back last time we took the car. Stocks are getting low and Leclerc is out of Marmite. We would have taken the car in September if it hadn't been for Covid and selling the house.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Our little local Carrefour Market has Marmite @Busy-Lizzie and also Ginger jam for less than at Leclerc. Do you have one nearby?
OH is clearly in shock but I'm waiting till daylight for the "shock and awe" aspect and take some photos. We know some good roofing men so just need to get quotes and contact the bank to get the insurance moving. That's the theory anyway.

Due to the horrendous weather forecast for the south of England tomorrow which we've just seen, we think we'll be cancelling our trip.
Nothing like tea and cake for a celebration @Busy-Lizzzie. Hope you reunite with your OH soon.
