Except that Jacqui is not a ho-hoper politician in the same league as Anne Widdicombe or Ed Balls who let themselves be silly and were thus entertaining. Other than her and Chelsea chappy they all seem to have got the idea about throwing themselves into it and look like a promising bunch.
I think it was probably quite unfair to throw dances like American Smooth and Samba into the mix so soon in the series. I hope none of them gets Argentine Tango, Charleston or what passes for Salsa before they've had a bit more training.

I enjoyed it. I think Hrvy (🙄) must have gone to a stage school or something - too good for week 1. I didn’t really like the CGI effects - not required.
I only watch this programme intermittently so don’t have much insight but two things last night puzzled me. Why are the judges constantly “thanking” the performers? They mean praise or congratulate or applaud. Similarly, Otsi (?) says she is proud of them. Why? She is not their mother, not their trainer.
But she has had a successful career as a professional dancer and competitor and judging on Germany's version of Strictly too. Why would she not feel proud of people taking on the challenge of learning to dance? It isn't easy and doing it in such a public way is even more nerve-wracking.
Haven't seen last night's show yet as we were busy doing other things. Will catch up before the results show.

Must admit the CGI effects left me slightly underwhelmed, but l can understand the thinking behind it. I saw an interview with Jason Gilkison (sp ?) on It Takes Two, where he said that doing all the professional dances in one go as it were, had worked out better in many ways. It must make for an easier day on Saturdays for everyone. I must admit it did a good job in taking my mind off things last night. Wait until you see Jackie and Anton @Obelixx, you are in for a treat 😉
Oh dear @AnniD ... it did rather remind me of someone manhandling a dressmaking dummy around a dance floor ... she really must try to forget that she’s a politician and mustn’t look foolish ... she needs to relax and enjoy the music ... for once in his life Ed Balls was right 😂

@Dovefromabove, l did feel sorry for her, heaven knows l would be even worse, but sometimes l wonder why people put themselves up for these things. I suppose it's not until you get into the studio with the lights, the cameras, the judges etc. that it really hits home. From the long list of Anton's partners, I always remember Judy Murray. l wasn't her biggest fan to begin with, purely based on the image she had (pushy, fist pumping Mum),and she wasn't the greatest dancer, but she did seem to embrace it, enjoy it and was clearly popular with the other contestants . As for Ed Balls and Gangnam Style, an all time favourite of mine, if only for his expression all the way through it 😁. I must say that l admire them all for having a go.

Looking forward to next Saturday

I think that Hrvy will be in the final too....unless of course the public vote has other ideas.
Although it's only week one, so anything could happen.
