We have had some unscheduled rain but it's dry now tho grey. I have to take Possum into La Roche later on to visit fabric shops for her, me and a lady at Patch and we'll stay on to go and see a VO Tenet which is showing at 4:30.
Huge congratulations to your daughter @Liriodendron. I have never been a runner since hurdles at grammar school before I developed a full bosom but I used to warm up for the gym on a bike programmed with hills and tho I was fit as a fiddle it was always hard work, even for just 15 to 30 minutes.. Respect then for a marathon on a treadmill.
@Busy-Lizzie we have skylights in our two smaller bedrooms, one of which is my sewing room, and can't imagine sleeping thru rain on those! Hope the new house doesn't have them. As I told Possum last week, even without Covid extras, moving is one of the two most stressful things you can do in your life but it will all be over soon and you can relax again.
@chicky - lovely calm sunset. Hoping to explore more of our local beaches now the tourists have gone and we can take the dogs for walks and just enjoy the ocean and the birds. Lots of sandpiper types.
Bake Off is set to record @Fairygirl. We all love it. I made a Jewish honey cake to take to Patch yesterday and it was a success. Very easy too and enough left to fuel OH round the golf course on Thursday.

Thank you for the sympathy. I dozed off and then OH rang 3/4 hour later. I've been reading in bed, now having breakfast, 11.15 in France.
I can't understand how anyone could like running! Or rock climbing Did anyone see that couple in the Peak District on "Escape to the Country" yesterday? But walking is a different matter, especially when there is lovely scenery.
Looking forward to Bake Off. OH doesn't like it, he usually goes off and plays the piano when it's on.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I used to like cross country running ... usually one of the slowest but I liked doing it, and I would go jogging with a friend when Wonky was small ... probably the start of my knee problems ... not a good idea now ... my admiration for marathon runners is huge ... son was a sprinter ... don’t think he has the patience for marathons although he has gone quite well at a mile. 😉 Wonky was fiercely competitive as a child and was more likely to knock everyone out of the way in order to get to the front ... think she may be descended from Boudicca 🤣

Think our weather is similar at the moment @punkdoc - feel the need to make the most of it but have to collect the food shop and then got a blood donation booked. I'm not overly keen at the prospect of being inside a building with other humans for about an hour but needs must.
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with running @Busy-Lizzie. It's generally a means to an end with me ie. training for something else. I'm by no means a fanatic but do get some satisfaction from improved times/distances and the 'runners high' definitely exists (other stronger drugs are available ).
It’s gorgeous out there 23+C in the shade ... OH has despatched the tomato plants and the bolted chard (there’s a new row ready to use) and then weeded the broccoli and mulched them with the tomato compost. I’ve picked the last toms ... all ripening ... there’ll be no green tomato chutney this year (just as well, there’s plenty of ‘overgrown courgette' chutney and there may well be chilli jam happening soon ) and the two biggest winter squashes are ripe so as we’ve been promised rain for the next ten days I've picked them and put them on egg trays in the studio to cure. I've picked what I think will be the last of the runner beans ... enough for the two of us for supper ... they've been amazing this year ... a dozen plants have been cropping enough for at least 5 meals a week since mid July ... well more than that because there's a drawer full in the freezer too. Variety Moonlight https://www.dobies.co.uk/Garden/Vegetables/Vegetable-Seeds/Runner-Bean-Seeds/Runner-Bean-Seeds---Moonlight_MH3481.htm ... a runner x french bean so self-pollinating but they do taste just like the best runner beans.

@Busy-Lizzie - you'd better not watch the 'rescue' programme currently on channel More 4 on Sunday nights just now. I meant to tell @punkdoc - on Sunday they were 'helicopter rescuing' a couple of lads on Aonach Eagach. The smirr has gone off at last, and there's even a tiny bit of blue sky and some sun, so I've put the washing out for a few hours until the proper rain appears. Good and breezy for it. Think I'll need to bring the toms into the house @Dovefromabove. It's just getting to 13 degrees here now, but I don't think we'll have enough warmth now to get them all ripened. Frost temps, and 4s and 5s for later this week overnight. There's been a good few ripened over the last week or two though
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
One of the reasons I came to live in Sheffield, was for the rock climbing in Derbyshire. I will have to try and find that on catch up, @Fairygirl. It was my first serious winter climb and there were times I thought I might need rescuing [ or recovering ]
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Worth a watch just for the scenery @punkdoc Should be on the channel 4 catch up thingy if you have it. I keep thinking I should have a lesson up at Kinlochleven in the Ice Factor, but I don't know what'll be going on there for the foreseeable. Something to think about for winter time perhaps.
