Thanks for asking @Dovefromabove. I spoke to her last night and she sounded bright and not not very confused.
She is due to be having various assessments, so hopefully we will be able to get her some more care.

  • Good to hear she's bright in herself @punkdoc ... hope something can be sorted that'll give you all a bit of peace of mind. We were so lucky with my two in The Lovely Home.

The sunshine here is gorgeous ... I've been out sitting under the pergola ... clematis, sunflowers, sweet peas, cosmos, rudbeckias, persicarias, ... just all sorts of beautiful things rampant and flollopping all over the place ...  and some beautiful Garden Orb webs  B)

I could have done with some @Biglad. Very mean of you to hog it all  :D
Been cloudy here all day really. Not unpleasant though, and fine for my walk with a good breeze. Someone was asking about frosts and weather forecasts on another thread, and I see we have some possible frosts for the end of the week. Snow on the hills too.

Glad your mum is doing ok @punkdoc:)

I think I'll be happy if it's just not blowing a hoolie from now on @Fairygirl. Sunshine will be a bonus in the next few months but I've still a couple of projects to complete during calmer weather.

That's often the way @Biglad. We have to make the best use of the good days when we have them eh?  ;)

  • Yes, @punkdoc, Eriska is very close.  Lucky you!   :)  Glad to hear your mum seems to be rallying - hope you can get her the care she needs though.

We're very proud of our daughter.  She was due to run in the Connemara marathon last March, to raise money for her local hospice (in memory of a good friend who recently died of cancer).  The marathon was cancelled, of course, but a lot of people had pledged money; she's a sprinter, not a distance runner, so she knew it would be a tough call, but was really disappointed to think she wouldn't be able to do the run until next year (or even later).  So on Saturday she ran a virtual marathon on a treadmill, programmed to reproduce the course as accurately as possible...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Well done your daughter, @Liriodendron, what a great effort.

We've had heavy showers today, some thunder and the occasional sunny period, much cooler.

Off to bed, without OH  :(

  • @Liriodendron, well done to your daughter, a great achievement. I've run several marathons and love them, but when training on a treadmill for various reasons it was absolutely mind - numbingly tedious and I'm sure a treadmill mile is worth at least two road miles - so extremely well done, what determination and grit she has and a super sense of loyalty to her lost friend and respect to those that pledged money. 🙂

@punkdoc - glad to hear your mother is doing ok, and I'm very pleased to hear you've had a good break. The place looked fabulous.
I've managed more gardening today, I was supposed to be planting bulbs but got distracted with transplanting roses to better spots, but made me feel good being out there. Have also found a plant I like the look of has anyone any experience of it? Abeliophyllum distichum. I'm desperately looking for winter interest in the garden.
Another question too, leaves are falling on my flowerbed, is it worth leaving them on for mulch or best to tidy them up? Anyway, bedtime now, my weather forecast is completely undecided for the rest of the week, so who knows what I'll be able to do, fingers crossed for sunshine and showers overnight to help my poor uprooted roses.

    Sweet dreams all.
