Morning all [ooh just!] and afties @Pat E. Lovely clear pic of the moon.
No chance of that here, cloudy and rainy last night. Dry today though, albeit cloudy.Ā
Congrats to you @Liriodendron and Mr LiriĀ  :) Hope you have a lovely day, and as good a celebration as possible.Ā
Congrats to too when it arrives @Hostafan1 :)

Hi Fairy. I’m glad you like my moon shot. It was just taken with my mobile phone.Ā

We’ve managed another afternoon of clearing up,in the garden. I can’t get over how out of control it has become in the last year and a half since hubby got sick and I couldn’t be bothered doing to do any gardening. Ā It’s starting to look good now. Still lots to do though. I’m really enjoying being out there. The weather is cool but bearable in shirt sleeves and track suit pants.😃

I’m heading to bed soon. Getting fed up with the Tele. Ā  Catch up tomorrow.Ā

That's good @Pat E , it will make you both feel so much better when it's all tidy.

Ā :/ Ā We’ve been looking at our big (or should that be huge) ash tree. It’s not looking as healthy as it did in previous summers. The foliage is not as thick ... other years there was a thick canopy but this year we can see right through the crown of the tree, and a lot of the leaves at the ends of the branches are wilted/withered, some with twisted stems. It’s a huge tree on a raised bank on a slope ... the soil is sandy loam with a layer of chalk not many feet from the surface ... I thought it was proving to be resistant to Chalara but maybe not ... or is it succumbing to drought? Other large trees in nearby gardens have been showing signs of drought stress.Ā
I think we have to bite the bullet and get an arborist in to have a look ... it towers over this house and two neighbouring ones plus a greenhouse ... Ā I fear the worst ... losing that tree will give us more light and moisture ... but it’s always full of birds 😢

Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

That's sad @Dovefromabove but better to sort it out before it becomes a danger and, as you say, it will give you loads more light and moisture and a big fat planting opportunity for you and the birds.

Just back from a day in Bournemouth. Ā Chicklet got the keys to her new home today so we went down and did a blitz. Room is now painted and looks lovely and fresh, and her little en-suite bathroom has been deep cleaned and black mould removed - it looked sparkling when we’d finished ✨

She’s not moving down until next weekend, but all is now ready for her to settle in. Ā Had our lunch on the cliffs overlooking Bournemouth beach - which was not crowded at all, despite the sunshine. Ā Think she will be woken by the cries of the seagulls, and she can see the sea from her bed šŸ›. Ā I’m quite envious šŸ˜

It sounds lovely @chicky, I hope she will enjoy living there. How do you get rid of black mould?

@Busy-Lizzie Cillit Bang ....swear by the stuff 🤣. Ā Used to use neat bleach and a toothbrush, but this is soooo much easier. Just be careful to wear old clothes as it’s bleach.

    Evening all!Ā

Thanks so much for the good wishes, much appreciated.Ā  We've had a very happy day with the family and a lovely roast dinner this evening.Ā  Now the granddaughters are finding it difficult to go to sleep in their tent, so their parents are sitting outside on camping chairs so they feel more secure - and a cow in the next field has just started bellowing, which isn't going to help...Ā Ā  :/

I've resisted Cillit Bang for years, on the grounds that the name is stupid and the adverts are extremely irritating.Ā  But if it works, maybe it's time to give it a try...

Hope the ash tree is just suffering water stress, @Dovefromabove, but better to be sure one way or the other.

All the very best to you and your hubby, @WonkyWomble.Ā  Anxious times.Ā  xx

You need "anti-moisissure" @Busy-Lizzie.Ā  Ā  Leclerc have it.

Sounds good @chicky, althoĀ  wouldn't want the seagull alarms.

Sounds like a lovely day @Liriodendron.Ā  Hope the grandkids got to sleep OK.
