Morning all [and those to come] /afties @Pat E A shame they couldn't all be there in person for the ceremony, but lovely that they did it. Happy and sad at the same time. I woke at half five-ish so I just got up. Chilly again. I took pity on youngest and set the heating to come on for her. She gets up at 4 am for work some days.Ā
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I sometimes have it on at this time of year - but not for long @Hostafan1 Tight ScotĀ It was 6 again earlier this morning when I got up. Think it's still around 7. A couple of cuppas is all I need to get warmed upĀ

I imagine they don't get that very often there @Hostafan1. I just looked at the tomatoes @Obelixx, and that's the temp in the growhouse. We've had warm weather at the wrong times for my toms. Not warm enough for fruits to form and ripen through July, so they're behind. I think I'll need to bring them in the house. It would be easier with a proper sized greenhouse, but I'd need to remove a load of planting under my bedroom window to do that. I really prefer the plantingĀ

Iām pleased that they were able to have the ceremony before Jeff goes. Itās hard on their family. There are 9 kids going to lose their father and my SIL ( his mother) is in a state. She keeps talking to me because I lost my daughter to cancer 10 years Ā ago. Thereās not much I can say to her though. Sheās in Qld and Iām down here In NSW and thereās no crossing State borders with the Virus. Ā Ā
I agree @Fairygirl and would choose plants over tomatoes but here we have the space and the temperatures needed.Ā Couldn't do good toms in Belgium even when we finally got a wee greenhouse so still beginners really.
I did say goodnight ... but it looks like I was so tired I didnāt press submit. šĀ
@Pat E ... what a poignant event that mustāve been.Ā
We have an electric fire behind a glass panel in the chimney breast ... we use it very rarely but it was on for a while last night. š„Ā
14C here and itās possible it may reach the dizzy heights of 16C later today. šĀ
OH is working today (a short day 11-3) then when he gets home weāll have slow roasted silverside of beef with cauliflower and white sauce, runner beans, roast potatoes ... I may make Yorkshire puddings ... just a few little ones ... and of course thereāll be gravy and horseradish sauce. ... form an orderly queue .... š Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Our gay guest came along alone, bless him, but he was very sociable, great fun and promised to come again soon - with it without his 'boyfriend'.Ā
I'm enjoying a morning off now, I was going to weed and cut back, but I've gone for coffee and breakfast in bed, and I might yet have another 40 winks.....
Have a good day all. ššš

Best of luck to the happy couple @Pat E and to your hubby's nephew for a peaceful end.

I've managed to read back and catch up. Despite sometimes reading your sad news I do love the familiarity and cheerful chit chat and banter on here. Very often when I finish work I'm all alone and this thread really does feel like an opportunity to have a relaxing but of downtime. šĀ
Mexican night went very well, rained once at 3 pm in the afternoon, gave us a chance to clear the deck and get set up actually, after that all fine. Such a late night though, 1:30am in the morning before I stopped working. Great night for the customers though and some have booked already for our British Fish & Chip night on the 11th. After that just one more, Spanish Night and we're done with the soirĆ©es outside for the year.Ā
