@Fairygirl when Wonky and her brother were children they each won a goldfish at the travelling fair which visited the village every year ... they were named Chish and Fips and were given a home in Papa Womble's parents' garden pond which was close to the playing field where the fair was sited.  They lived happily in that small pond for many years, growing huge .... really huge ... well, huge for a goldfish  ... until they were discovered by a heron ...

@Yviestevie ((hugs)) as Fairy says, be kind to yourself ... when times is tough we need to be gentle with everyone, ourselves included.  xx

@Yviestevie - I agree.  be kind to yourself and lie about reading a good book or watching a favourite film or doing whatever takes your fancy.

Feeling weary myself now after an early start and lots of "busy".  Have just been in the cave to fetch a piece of wood I need to fix up a Roman blind for my sewing room and there's still an active nest in there with youngsters hoping I might be mum or dad bringing food.  Bit late isn't it for swallows?

I hope the planting cheers you up @Yviestevie

Yes thanks, @chicky, I enjoyed the Zoom meeting although not many of us turned up. But it's easier to chat when there aren't too many.

I've thrown away a load of old holiday brochures from the 80s and 90s and the old accounts of first OH's dental practice in the 80s. The latter made me feel a bit weird.

Hi folks,  thanks for the kind words I've mowed and edged the lawns and planted a couple of penstemons and irises.  Feel better that I've actually achieved something today.  Love a good chuck out BL.

Crikey @Busy-Lizzie!   How often do your bins get emptied or will it all have to be taken to the recycling centre?

Well done @Yviestevie.  I need to do some weeding before I can plant out my irises but for that I need a lot of rain cos the bed is bone dry and rock hard at the mo.

Apart from a bit of touching up around the doorway, I have finally finished Possum's new bedroom.   Just having a well-earned coffee and a sit before I take out the dogs for walkies and then dinner with a well-deserved glass of wine.   Possum is cooking slow roast belly pork for OH in Namur.  Her first attempt so lots of phone calls.

Blimey @Busy-Lizzie - stuff from 30 to 40 years ago! You'd get on well with my sister  :D
My older daughter is like that, but she does have 'problems'. When I watch those programmes about hoarders, I know that's what she would be like if she lived on her own. I have to take a breath and count to ten, frequently, or I would spend all my time getting angry with her.  :/

Glad you've been productive @Yviestevie. I did my grass too, and some hacking and slashing. My pyracanthas in the back garden aren't producing their fruits properly, despite the heavy flowering and pollination, which seems to be a scab  issue, so I'm chopping them back. It's a real shame, but the fruits are lovely for the birds. I've done the inside, so I'll do the outside of the boundary another day. There's much more to chop on the outside....   :#

We have communal bins in the village 4kms away. I bag it up and take it there @Obelixx . My first husband's accounts and stuff to do with his dental practice were all in drawers in the built in bookcases in the study. I never looked at them and they have just stayed there since he died in 1998. So I didn't hoard them!

It would have been a good gardening day but shoulder and arthritis fingers ache so I haven't done any.

I can sympathize Busy-Lizzie, I still ache after yesterday's marathon pruning/strimming session. I've had to restrain myself and just do some lightweight pruning on another hedge which didn't involve bending!
Lovely sunset tonight, just sat outside with a coffee after dinner while OH watches the Grand Prix. Looking forward to the new J.K Rowling/Galbraith thriller at 9pm tonight.
Glad you enjoyed your day after all @Yviestevie, it makes all the difference to actually get something done.
