Morning all. I'm glad the evening went well for you @D0rdogne_Damsel Has rained a little this morning but I think the sun is trying to come out a bit. @Obelixx, I clicked on your weather map link but the little red dot was where I live, not where you live. Wonder how it knew?
Zoom meeting with friends from church soon. Hope Internet doesn't let me down. Then more clearing and sorting.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Picked it up from your IP address @Busy-Lizzie ? If you take a line south from Nantes and then a line west from Poitiers my red dot would be more or less where they intersect. Hope your chat goes well and hitch free.
Will you be doing mushy peas and malt vinegar on Fish and Chips night @D0rdogne_Damsel ?

It's an age since we've had proper fish and chips 🤤 ... might arrange a meet up with friend living up on the coast for a f&c lunch on the prom before the weather gets any worse ... but her sciatica has been playing up ... it might not be a comfy outing for her ... we'll see ...

Hope your zoom chat went well @Busy-Lizzie - zoom was my saviour during lockdown.....and I suspect it will be getting lots of use this autumn and winter as well 🙄
Finally got a nice day here - I’m going to plant out all the online purchases I made this summer, and have been putting off planting - easier to look after new plants in pots in a heatwave/drought. Hopefully now will be a good time for them to get their roots down. I have some veronica “marietta”, some stachys “hummelo”, a baptisia, two hydrangeas, a huge white scabious, some geum “mai tai” and some geranium “derrick cook”. Get gooogle imaging on that lot 🤣
Morning all - just! As anticipated I'm groaning and twinging so am having to take it very easy today. A nuisance really as it's dry and sunny out there. Might be able to do some standing up pruning perhaps. Sounds a lovely ceremony @Pat E. Glad your Mexican evening went off well, time for a rest as you say DD. A good day for planting Chicky and for cooking Dove. Has it stopped raining Hosta? Our heating comes on automatically if the temps drop - lovely on a chilly morning. Don't fancy your temps Fairygirl.
You're going to be busy @chicky. Copious amounts of tea/coffee/beverage of choice will be required. Which hydrangeas have you got? I love my oak leaf ones, but I'm admitting defeat with the one in the back garden. They don't mind more sun, but it definitely doesn't have enough room, so it's getting the chop and being moved over to the other side. I have a laurel there which will come out, and the new clematis can climb over the hydrangea instead. The one at the front of the house is looking superb - and large. I've got a couple of other things which are getting moved too, and it's a good chance to chop back another clematis I have, and the cream delight phormium which loves it's spot just a wee bit too much. Enjoy your little rest @D0rdogne_Damsel . Glad your event went well Does anyone else say chish and fips? I think my dad said it when we were little, and it stuck. My girls say it too. It's a more normal temp for this time of year here @Lizzie27. We normally have quite low temps as soon as August appears - single figs to low double at night, and lots of moist, dewy mornings. It's been a good couple of weeks later this year. I suppose we're just used to that - shorter growing season

Morning all, Dry with some sunny patches here. Feeling very fed up this morning. I think everything is getting to me. I'm going to give myself a good talking to and hopefully mow the lawns that haven't been done for a couple of weeks.
I've got quite a few plants to get in the ground too.
@Pat E Such sad and happy news from you. Hope everything goes as well as can be expected for the family.
Yes @Fairygirl altho in my teens it was as likely to be a steamed steak and kidney pudding with chips and gravy cos I hated malt vinegar on the chish and most definitely not on the fips.

Days like that are a drag @Yviestevie, and you sometimes just have to roll with it, and wait till it passes. Be kind to yourself I think I can give my grass a wheech over too. It hasn't grown much in the last week, but it'll just nip the tops off in case we get a bit more rain this week.
