I can't understand why we all seem to be becoming more violent, a horrible experience for chicklet. My latest COVID test has come back negative, but still need to quarantine for 2 weeks.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I quite agree @Hostafan1. There isn't a system in the world that doesn't lead to unfairness for someone - be it a surviving spouse, prodigal son syndrome or parents who favour one child over another. In Belgium, most people have a marriage contract and a will that covers making sure a surviving spouse has the right to live in the family home till their demise. Don't know about France. As long as OH and I have British nationality we can opt out of the automatic inheritance stuff but we also have just one daughter so no disputes.

Morning all/afties @Pat E. Glad you've got a bit of rain. I think many people in the south of the Uk are getting some much needed dampness too, although it needs to be enough to soak in if the ground's been so parched as it has in lots of areas. How horrible @chicky. I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't the first time he'd done that though. There is no justification for it. Hope chicklet and her colleague are ok.
Damp and cool here again. Nice for my walk earlier. I think it's to be brighter later, as has been the pattern of the last few days. I had to laugh at a woman I met along one of the footpaths. She stopped when she saw me, and I moved into another little bit and said to her to come past. I could see she had a dog, but she was slightly behind the fence, where there's an open bit of grass, so I couldn't see it. She said to me - 'no you come past - he's pulling me all over the place.' I obliged, as I could see she was a bit flustered. Was it a Rottweiler? A large retriever or a giant bulldog? Nope. Yorkshire terrier. Once I was past, I struggled to keep the laughter in.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Littlest Chicklet is better this morning - which is good as she has to go and do the whole thing all over again. Police were involved and offenders have been barred, so hopefully an isolated incident ☹️
Very damp here - might try and get out later to plant out my final rudbeckias. They needed to go out last week, but I daren’t in the heatwave 🥵. Some are flowering already - lovely and bright 🌻
Hard as nails, that dug @chicky Hopefully a one off, as you say. Despicable. I just worry if it's standard behaviour by the man though, for personal reasons. Hope chicklet is ok today.
I got a little rudbeckia last year for my hot border. It's certainly that They're lovely when they open up fully. The bees get right in there.

That type of incident makes me glad that I've become a recluse over the last 5 months! Got a grave to dig and a bunny coffin to construct today so that will keep me away from contact with the outside world and the madness.
I've learnt some interesting (and a touch baffling) things about how other countries deal with inheritance recently. I'd assumed that everywhere would be similar to my experience. When my 2nd parent died, I (as the eldest and most financially savvy) set up a separate bank account for all the funds from house sales, assets, etc. to accumulate. This was then divvied out 3 equal ways. Seemed to work pretty well.
Weather here looks good again. I'm not bothering with my recent fascination with the local weather forecasts any more. Very bright with a nice breeze this morning.
I was the executor of my Dad's estate @Biglad, mainly because I lived nearer him. We have slightly different laws here too, compared to England regarding inheritance etc, in that, challenges can be made by offspring to the 'moveable' estate. A friend had asked me on behalf of a lady she works for, because she'd wanted to leave everything to her son, and nothing to the 2 daughters. I said they can challenge any actual money - savings etc [moveable] but if she left him the house for example, they can't challenge that. I only found that out because of dealing with the lawyer. I use several forecasts, and then take a basic view on it based on experience. We live on a very small island after all, which is almost impossible to forecast accurately. A few miles in any direction changes it. I find the Met Office one can be quite good, although the temp is often slightly higher on it for where I am. It's even not bad for the hills, although the MWIS one is generally the most reliable. In any case, you just take everything with you

Son 2 rang up this morning to ask me to lunch. It was a BBQ in the garden. He has 3 little boys and a 1yr old daughter, all close in age. His French wife is lovely. I really enjoyed it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sounds lovely @Busy-Lizzie. Presumably your guests went home yesterday? We did our usual walk this morning to get the paper - it rained and has kept on raining. It's also very overcast and grey again which is a bit depressing. I've had to do the ironing and the Sainsbury's online shopping list so I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here! It's so frustrating, it was too hot last week to garden and now it's too wet.
A nasty experience for your daughter @Chicky, hope the wife was okay.

Some might consider constructing a bunny coffin to be madness.
