They've all gone out to walk around town. Daughter 2 and family coming before lunch. I'm making a big lemon drizzle cake. I like making cakes, especially in a peaceful kitchen, but I don't often get the chance now that it's usually just me and OH.

Well, the British Gas Homecare engineer arrived at 8:15 ... serviced the boiler, pronounced it fit for another year ... as, like us, ‘it’s 27’ there are some spare parts that are out of manufacture and if one of those goes we’ll be looking at a new boiler it’s working fine and is energy efficient so 👍. By the time it’s irreparable they may have come up with an air pump that doesn’t need a south facing wall 😐  ... our house is aligned west to east ... the south wall is where the narrow shady pathway between us and NDN’s garage runs. 😒

Must say he was was very good on all the PPE social distancing/hygiene stuff and explained the reasoning behind it too. Couldn’t fault him.

Morning all.  Thunder and heavy rain last night, but no cat, so a different reason for lack of sleep...  and no inconsiderate young people audible from here.  That's tough, @WonkyWomble !

Our air source heat pump is on the north side of the house, @Dovefromabove.  There was no suggestion it should be sited in the sun, and there's nothing on the internet to say that's necessary either...  might be worth looking into that if ever you need to replace your "elderly" boiler.   :)

Thinking of you, @Yviestevie.  Your presence will be so important to the boys in helping to give them stability.

Thinking of you too, @Busy-Lizzie .  Hope you are able to enjoy having your family and their friends, at arm's length, without too much worry, now that it's a "fait accompli".

The dust buildup in this room is such that I am grudgingly going to find the vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth...   :/

We had a short thunderstorm and heavy rain last night - just as we went to bed, isn't that always the way! Must have dropped off to sleep though in the middle of it.
Raining again now - hurray - I've got buckets everywhere to catch in and our 9 butts are filling up again fast. Still very hot and muggy though. It reached 37.4 by late afternoon, absolutely unbearable.
Glad your visitors are behaving well @Busy-Lizzie, lemon drizzle cake is OH's favourite.
@WonkyWomble, late night parties like that are the bane of modern life aren't they, we've had the odd one or two lately but mostly it's a well-behaved neighbourhood.
Not sure what to do today, SM delivery is soon and then I just might have to do some ironing.

Send it here next please we haven't had anything for weeks again. It is a bit cooler today but yesterday day & night was awful again.
@Dovefromabove BBC weather says we should be getting thunderstorms by now- hardly a cloud in the sky let alone a thunder head. When there is a cloud there is a little breeze, which is very tantalising.
Excitement here first thing resident frog had got into the  G kids paddling pool and was happily cooling off, I fished it out & it sat on the lawn quite happily for about 5 min before hoping off into the bottom flower bed.

    Hi all.
We've just had a tremendous downpour. I'm glad I'm home from work
The saga of British Gas Home Care goes on. The fridge freezer still hasn't been repaired, nobody has come out in 3 weeks .
Whirpool have said they can come a week next Tuesday. that'll be 5 weeks and 5 days since I reported the fault
Yesterday BG said we could use Local Heroes, but they've emailed back and said " there's nobody local to you"
I've got  a stupid big American style fridge freezer with the doors wedges open with an old Quality Street tin to stop it from smelling . Loving life !!!!
