That would be far too many visitors for me to cope with at the best of times! My sister's coming to stay for 3 days next week so I've just had to amend my Sm order in a hurray. Just hoping the delivery man can find a way across our local roadworks, our main and only route out of here has been thoroughly torn up and a big tarmac machine expected soon. Why they couldn't have done it in two halves, so we had access in and out is beyond me. It's 32 deg here and rising, got to over 35 at 5.30 last night. We've been rash and booked dinner outside at local pub so do hope forecasted thunderstorms don't arrive until later.
Good to 'see' you @Fairygirl ... I was wondering whether we were going to have to launch a dinghy into the Clyde or send Cromer lifeboat up that way ........ 🚣♀️
Train travel is much safer than it used to be ... rail accidents used to feature in the UK news from time to time in my childhood (much as mining accidents did) and they're much rarer now ... but nothing is without risk and rail accidents in that sort of situation can be horrific. My thoughts are with the rail staff and passengers, and the members of the emergency services who will, as usual, be dealing with stuff we can hardly imagine ...

Son asked if they could come just for a night a couple of weeks ago but then it was cancelled and I have to admit I breathed a sigh of relief. But now they are coming and they are only a couple of hours away, it was a bit of a "fait accompli" with hardly any warning. Son rang me on his way here. Also it is for an extra night, so there will be meals. I may eat elsewhere. They can have their own bathroom, I have four. Mine is ensuite, no one else uses it just me and OH. OH, still in Norfolk, is rather cross about it. They are coming from Andalucia, haven't stayed in the North. They've been travelling since very early this morning, I can't refuse them now.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I'm not as nice as you @Busy-Lizzie ... I'd flamin' well book them into a hotel ... or failing that I'd book myself into a hotel and tell them that they can pay for a deep clean of your house. I really would. Damn cheek! 😡

I too would be having serious words with Son about care, consideration, taking advantage, bloody cheek, damn stupidity and deep cleaning. This is not at all what you need @Busy-Lizzie even without all the stress of OH being away and you preparing to move.

I'm inclined to agree with @Obelixx and @Dovefromabove@Busy-Lizzie. A conversation needs to be had. You've got enough to be dealing with. It's really thoughtless.
There was flooding in Glasgow too @Dovefromabove, but fortunately, I'm on a little hill to the south, so a dinghy might have been tricky;) There's a caravan park in Fife which has 'slid', and people have had to be evacuated. We've been very lucky here. @Lizzie27 - they usually allow local access when they do roadworks like that. They can't just leave people cut off, surely?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I'm afraid I also agree with the sensible folk BusyL. It's unfair to be put in that position, knowing you are normally such a gracious host and are too polite to refuse... but you should! X
As I see it dear @Busy-Lizzie ((hugs)) if one of your guests should test positive within the next fourteen days you would be required to quarantine for fourteen days (at least that's how it is in the UK ... I assume it's similar there?) ...... that could mean that for the next 28 days you're confined to your home ... who's going to fetch and carry for you, do the shopping etc? And then should you need to get to your OH in a hurry where would you be ... they simply can't have thought through the implications of what they're expecting of you.
I know it's hard to say no, but ...
