Night night all .... sleep tight and stay safe ... 🤗 🤞

  • The breeze off the Atlantic tempers the temperature out here and the West coast is moderate and very pleasant these last days. Perfect summer weather. The front area is a different matter when the breeze is from the north. But very welcome., As long as we are inside when the midges swarm.  Very still and intensely silent at this early hour and another clear warm day in the offing.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Love the still of early morning ...
A beautiful sunny morning here in East Anglia ... with a breeze lifting the tree branches along the rise.
I’d better get out there and  do some watering ...

Hot on your heels @Dovefromabove .....hosepipe here I come 💦💦💦

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day, and today is shaping up to be similar 😎.  Last night was hot, but once we opened all the windows and got the air flowing through it was bearable.

Being taken out for lunch today (rain check for Mothers Day in March).  Outside table reserved 👍🏻

That sounds good @chicky.  Bon appétit!

We had storms predicted for all morning and over a cm of rain.  We got lots of flash bang at dawn instead and what sounded like some heavy rain but it hasn't registered on the meter.   It is, however, much cooler and fresher and in the mid 20s with a light breeze.

The swifts, swallows and house-martins are congregating on the cables between our post and next door so I expect the adults will be heading south soon.

No idea what to do today but no doubt inspiration will strike.   Hope everyone has a good day and all the rain or sunshine they need.

    Morning all/afties @Pat E if you're there
Lovely red admiral @chicky. Yet to see on this year - they're usually a bit later in August here, with the peacocks. The torties are around though. Enjoy your lunch.
Cloudy here, but I think the thunder & lightning is more likely to be tomorrow. Yesterday was lovely, with a nice breeze, so it stopped it being too hot, although there was a huge bank of leaden cloud coming up from the south later. Looked fab.  I spent a nice bit of time in the shade of the sweet peas listening to JW in the afternoon and watching the birds.
Noticeably quieter when I was out this morning too. Schools are back though, so possibly a lot of them were dealing with screaming weans  :D

  • I woke early and did a couple of hours in the garden before 9am, as it was too hot over the weekend to do very much. It's going to be another hot one here today.

Hope you have a good lunch @chicky.

I'm surprised the schools in your area have gone back already @Fairygirl, it's only the middle of August!

Not sure what to do today either. For some reason, the paper shop was devoid of papers, so tried Tesco's but they didn't have any either. I've got two lots of washing to do, so hoping we don't get any heavy rain yet. My back is still twinging so that rules out any lifting or gardening. Could try patching sheets I suppose!

I' ve drenched the tomatoes etc ... and myself ... the hosepipe seems to be springing leaks all along it's length ..... however I hold it I'm being squirted from several angles ... I've got my coolest baggy trousers on and now they're wet and clingy ... but at least they're still cool ... I think I need to investigate the prices of new windup hose thingummies ... think we've had this one 20 years so mustn't grumble I suppose ...

Schools go back in August here anyway. It would usually be next week, but they're doing it a week earlier because of the abrupt end in spring. I think it's staggered though, so not all will be back, and many are tomorrow. Our schools stop around the third week in June for summer.
I got a hose reel thingy [last year maybe?] which wasn't too expensive @Dovefromabove. It's fine, and the handle was useful physio for my knackered shoulder last summer  :D
I'll see if I can find it...
