Catching the last of the rays before the storms sweep in. Tides out, so there is a vast expanse of sand to enjoy for now.
Switched from Sungold to Honeycomb this year - only had two ripen so far but they have been very good. Got the seeds after a taste test at Hampton Court Flower Show last year.
Got up early to do my watering before we set off. Only one more day for them to endure before British weather resumes. Might even get some chores done too - been too hot to tackle anything this week 🥵
Swear by sungold here! Chicken breasts with garlic and fresh herbs and sungold Tom's baked and served with Caribbean rice and gungo peas cooked in coconut milk, thyme, chilli and garlic and a dollop of creme fresh for dinner last night.....yummy! Don't give up on them Obelixx
Biglad, I've got ironing to do today... self employed gardener but do ironing to help as no government help during covid.... thinking of doing the ironing outside at midnight! Take care in this everyone!
Hello all. It was cloudy, cooler and a bit drizzly this morning, hotting up now.
Son 1 and family have just come back from Daughter 2, she and family are coming for lunch tomorrow. Son has just told me that his friends with 4 children who are coming to stay tonight on their way back from holiday in Spain are staying until Friday. Tomorrow there will be 7 adults and 10 children here. Should I be worried about the ones coming from Spain? Covid.
Son 1 has done a big SM shop and he is doing a BBQ tonight. I spent the morning cleaning windows.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
To be honest @Busy-Lizzie I would not want folk travelling from Spain to come to my home at the moment ... particularly as you may need to travel to the UK at short notice should your OH get his operation soon ... I would show this https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain to your family and say 'I'm sorry, but No.' They can take risks for themselves and their family if they choose and if it's not against the rules in France. I think it's unfair of them to expect you to do the same.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I think it's probably not something I'd be willing to risk @Busy-Lizzie, being 27 and all, but much depends on where they've been in Spain and where they've stayed on the way back. I'd say Catalonia was an absolute no-no.
If you can eat outdoors and keep your distance it may be OK but having them staying till Friday would be a stretch. How many bathrooms do you have? Can they have their own?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Afties all - keep forgetting to post here. Hopeless mare. I think that's a bit of an imposition @Busy-Lizzie. I'd be quite annoyed if I was you. Just my opinion though. Hope @chicky is having a good day. I'm expecting a much better sandcastle this time.... Ironing. Ironing? Are you mad? @WonkyWomble The weather didn't quite this far west @Dovefromabove, although we had a good lightning display for a long time last night - to the south east, and round to the east. We're not far from north Lanarkshire, and they were getting the works. It's really the east side that's had a very bad dose - Perthshire/Fife and right up the east side, with loads of flooding. The train derailment is very serious. They think the driver was told to return and may have hit a second landslip on the way, but they really don't know at this stage. Too hot for me again. Sun came out at about 1, so it's 23 and no breeze now. No use to us pasty Scots folk. Place was hoaching with weans and parents when I was out earlier. I'll need to review my 'walk timing' again. Some schools were back yesterday [I thought it was Monday] but they're in full flow now.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Too dark to get on with painting doors and frames so i'm about to cut out a new pair of shorts for OH. Who's a lucky chap?
Rather you than me for the ironing @WonkyWomble but well done for taking it on. Hope it's a grand day out @chicky.
@Dovefromabove - @Fairygirl was around earlier on a hydrangea thread.
