From the initial chat I had with him he was obviously stressed from his job as a surgeon and I think he hoped that slowing down to the pace of Nature it would help.
He inherited a shed made of corrugated iron which he asked me to take a picture of him in front of it which I did.
He took it down and I was hopeful he would "progress "
I suspect that his Doctor had suggested the allotment life to help him.
We get some people who "take a plot" and we can tell they wont last because they are always checking their phones and drive their cars onto the site.
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.
Off topic, but @NewBoy2 we are talking with our local (large) park about dedicating a section to become an allotment site. Aparently this is happen all over the country, as demand for sites is so high and supply limited in some areas. I think it would be v cool, esp as out local park trust have no money for upkeep at the moment, planting, maintenance etc.
Sorry @Lyn, but it's quite true that Avon Skin So Soft works for some but not others. It had no repellent effect whatever when I used it. All the female members of my family get a lot of insect bites (I've been bitten whilst in the garden in every month since we moved here in October - yes, even January!) and for us, only 50% DEET repellent is effective. (And nothing really works against harvest mites, the little b*****s.)
@Hanyhair - I'm sure your horrible bites will resolve in a day or two, with antihistamines etc. But do consult a doctor if you start feeling unwell or the swelling gets worse. Better to be safe than sorry...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
@NewBoy2 yes I think some people like the idea of a slower pace, but just can't seem to "switch off" from other areas of life unfortunately! Well that's a shame! @Liriodendron I've woke up this morning to 2 blisters on the bigger of the bites and the swelling keeps going up and down but i think that's more to do with not actually being able to sit with my leg up to take down some of the swelling (no amount of sitting down happens when you've got 4 children at least not until there in bed lol!)😁 some of the redness is rather large but it does feel better today though just super itchy!
I've had blisters - especially after a hot bath. An unlikely event even in this summer!. Nothing to worry about. Don't scratch the red bit under any circumstances. But if you must scratch, scratch an unswollen bit nearby. was gives some relief. It'll be gone soon. I stood on a bee a few days ago. My foot swelled now it's back to normal. I found the aloe vera gel cooled it down a lot. Anything that bites, bites me so I have considerable experience😕
@B3 I have kinda been scratching as it has been so itchy its driving me mad all day, just been told off by dh as he spotted me scratching!! @mattpope5 haha that's so annoying! Bloody things
Just don't scratch the red bit. You'll make it worse! When my daughter had chickenpox, i told her that wherever she itched, she could only scratch the one on her ankle. No point telling her not to scratch at all , so a good deal. But at least her face wasn't scarred.

Pity because it's finally been dry all day and I've got a growing list of jobs to do before the next monsoon.
