I've been bitten Help!

Hi all, So I was pottering in the garden yesterday as you do sweeping, sorting, pruning, general pottering and tivitating my plants and it wasn't until I went in that I notice my ankle was super itchy and the back of my calf was a little tingly, itchy! I noticed the bite on my ankle straight away, but felt the back of my calf when getting into bed a few hours later it felt rather firm and bloated but still stupidly thought nothing of it! I woke up this morning and the back of my calf was really red, very hot and swollen but I still couldn't see a bite mark or sting on it! My husband has drawn a line around where it is, just to measure the size and it does seem to have got a little bigger, slightly! It feels tingly and itchy all the way up my leg and I had some tummy cramps earlier but they have gone now! I was wondering if anyone might be able to enlighten me on what it might be, maybe someone has had a similar experience! 🤔🤷‍♀️

Do you have any antihistamine ?

Oh well that's completely put my mind at rest I was getting worried! Ok so I'm going to have to get some antihistamine as I dont have any in at the moment! It's just so odd as usually it's like oh yep there's a lump it's a bite, but nope absolutely nothing! I'm sitting here now with a pack of frozen chips on it trying to bring down the swelling 🤣 thanks so much for your help😊👍

Aloe vera gel will cool it down and take away the sting.

@B3 I'll get some of that too! Thanks
  • I've been bitten terribly this year.  I normally have a red lump reaction but this year huge blisters, yuk!

Pictures sent to the GP confirmed just a usual allergic reaction.
I already take antihistamines for hayfever so a stronger dose and hydrocortisone for bites  sorted them.  They did take weeks to go and now I'm left with brand new skin where the blister was so now that's incredibly itchy, worse than the bite!

I've had to resort to insect repellent which is really annoying as I hate the idea of putting chemicals into the environment.

Every single time I go out in my shorts in the evening, I get bit; and like you, my legs become swollen itchy and hot. The other week I had three biters on my leg, which I brushed off smearing blood on my skin, but it was too late. The next day it looked like I had elephantiasis. I never seem to learn.

Avon Skin So Soft is an excellent repellent, although it is not sold as such. It means that I can go down the shady end of my garden now. Doesn't smell great, but it's not awful.

It's the same here with me everytime I go in my garden now I get bitten the other week I got bitten by a spider on my shin and it's still there and still healing, and that came up huge the next day really red aswell the only difference is I could actually see the fang Mark's, sods law it's on the same bloody leg as my others now, so theres obviously something about that specific leg that they like 😁.
@AlliumPurpleSensation ive put hydrocortisone on as that seemed to help with my other bite!
@Loxley my husband has been stressed about it all day bless him so hes sworn me to wear Jean's and boots everytime I'm in the garden now (suited and booted) so to speak as I'm always sweeping and faffng in the garden in leggings and sandals! 🤦‍♀️

@B3 I was thinking of dousing myself in peppermint to try and repel bugs and spiders not sure if that will work!🤷‍♀️
