I second @B3 Avon. Worked for me, don't get bitten often now, maybe because not young anymore or because we didn't put in a pond here only a water feature so no open water.
@Treeface you've got a point though I was bitten or stung not sure on the calf that was covered by leggings, albeit thin skintight easy bite through ones according to dh but still I was covered!😁
I always kept a tube of bite/allergy cream, I think it's called Anthisan?? And also some antihistamines just in case.
I would suggest always putting some antiseptic cream on a bite, if you can see where it is because I remember a neighbour getting blood poisoning from a bite. It's rare thankfully.
@K67 it's funny you say a pond as my bigger flower bed is essentially an old pond that I filled in so no open water but I've seen some bloody weird looking creepy crawlies climb out of there to say the least! I wo der if it was something from there!
It seems it's an occupational hazard. My calves appear to be irresistible to a range of little creatures that bite. Had a couple of humdingers this year and a couple that I got to just in time!
@Bijdezee I've got some athisan somewhere jm gonna have to find it but my dh kept going on at me this morning about sepsis which stressed me out! I've got a pot of sudacrem that's antiseptic healing! @Treeface yep I think I'm gonna have to be strictly Jean's in the garden now which is so annoying as leggings are super comfy 😁 @mattpope5 christ that doesn't sound good!
I cant remember the last time I bought something from Avon it's been so long, is it online now? @B3
You can order online I think the minimum for free postage is 15.00 but it's nice if you can find an Avon Lady so she gets the commission. You can find a local one on site then you can email her.
I had similar the other day, both arms hard red itchy lumps, I covered them in germoline, antiseptic and anaesthetic so no itch, they were down by the morning.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Avon So Soft works for some but definitely not for all. When Which? reviewed insect repellents some while ago the Avon product was 21st out of 22. In last place was waving your arms and shouting ‘go away’ (that bit is not true).
