Got to W'rose and (for the first time since Easter) had to queue to get in. Not too long but it's a reminder that I'm probably better off sticking with a big shop early on a Monday or Tuesday when it's MUCH quieter.

Bought porridge oats (WHAT? porridge in this heat?) - because OH has requested I make cranachan with the home grown raspberries. It is indeed a pleasure to do that - one of my favourite puds😋

Time for a cuppa, refill the wildlife water sources and then I will toast the oats and cook some chicken and sausages to have cold with salad tonight. Then I'm going to sit with a book. Bottle of beer and rose wine for this evening already chilling in the fridge.

31.7C in the shade right now....

LB I hope your lovely Lily will soon be feeling better.  She is blessed with you.  Chive Alfie has been very affectionate this morning and has been relaxing in the sunshine.  Island I hope your knitting arrives soon and you have a good day with the cats.

Hazel - I have all the curtains / blinds on the south side of the house closed and also all the doors and windows shut. Consequently it’s about 13C cooler in the house than the garden. I’ll open everything up at about 8pm and try to get some air moving - it’s very unpleasant at the moment.

Well done on doing some gardening. After looking at the front border I think I will have to give the lavender a bit of water. That’s a first for me and an indication of how dry it is.

Afternoon everyone, phew room for another one in the puddle 🥵 Opticians are referring mum to the eye clinic at the hospital for treatment to help the pressure,
T’bird your Cranachan with raspberries sounds yummy, I’ve started picking my blackberries which have ripened up early I might try something like that with those. I’m getting hungry can you tell 😉 enjoy your chilled Rose’ later,
LB goodness you are lucky to get any rain today, the birds will be pleased to bath and drink from the newly refreshed baths.
Island would love to see a photo of the bed when it’s safe for you to do so,
Rosie I bet Alfie knows the perfect spot to do sunbathe, Nel’s current sleeping position is at full stretch under the dining table,
Rubee I hope both you and your OH have caught up with some rest today, very uncomfortable in this heat,
Hazel hope it’s been a day of leisure for you too, even knitting must be hard going in this weather,
No SGL today? Hope she is ok,
    Have a nice evening everyone.

    Good evening all.
Here is also hot again. Not like last time, but still hot. I didn't feel well yesterday and one of my neighbour was real PITA. I didn't go to cottage today because I expected delivery. Driver called me that he can't manage to come today so I must wait till Monday.
Hope so that you are all well.

Evening Ante, Sorry to hear that you wasn’t feeling very well yesterday, improved today I hope? Waiting in for a delivery and then finding out that it’s not coming after all is very frustrating 😠 I suppose atleast he called you but still it does stop your plans. Hope you can get to the cottage at the weekend.

Hi Chive. I'm much better today. I ordered new mattresses and canceled all plans for today. I'll go tomorrow to cottage.

  • Crashed early but back up for a while.. Reading about your weather over there. Sheesh; that is HOT! Take care and keep cool....

We had a hot spell my first summer here and my unusual home is a "demountable dwelling" , made of. well like  a caravan but higher roof. Well insulated in winter but that summer... Like an oven, literally. I rent and on a low income and this was the only viable place and a miracle..Love it and love the island.

I see that the blackberries are green on the hedges. They are prolific here and very good. Jam, juice... lots of vitamins and a natural antibiotic.

Lovely here now; sunny and  breezy.

The border needs work before being seen! I did take photos but! It is a jungle out at the back and I did well to hack even that out. Not been well enough to do much since hospital.

Lovely out there.. Will never take it for granted.

Pleased to hear that Ante, I’m keeping well thank you (touching wood for luck) a new mattress lovely! that will be a treat to look forward to,
Island it sounds magical there in lots of ways but not for the faint hearted you sound as though you have got a good relationship with the island and understand it well. We are unaccustomed to these temperatures at the moment and it’s gruelling, or should that be grilling 🤔
