@Obelixx It's one of these I know i'm older than my husband by a good few years but ..
I get really annoyed when I try to open a post on this forum, and just at the instant I click, an advert jumps in somewhere in the list, and makes my click land on the wrong post. Especially when, as just now, it's one I've already read, and I re-open it two or three times by accident.
I don't object to the adverts per se, as they enable us to use and enjoy the forum free of charge. But there's plenty of room either side of the screen to put the adverts; why do they have to be interleaved with the headings?
I have a Doro phone, therefore am officially old 👵. To be honest, it's all l need, calls and texts are all l want to use it for. It does take photos, albeit not many, and l find the torch very useful.
As per my rant a few days ago about proposed new houses we had a power cut for about an hour this morning & this is even before they start work. A short in an underground high voltage cable apparently. Probably because we had the heat & have now had some rain
I don't do twitbook or any of the others, this forum is my only concession to social media.
I got a phone for my Dad a while back. He was blind so smart phones - with no buttons - were entirely impossible. It was called an 'Easy 5' but I can't remember who made it. I pre-programmed it with the 5 phone numbers he used most (Mum's mobile, his sister, my mobile, a taxi company in case he got stuck somewhere and the local fish and chip shop. Seriously). Then all he had to do was remember the numbers 1 to 5 and we could put a sticky plastic 'dot' on the buttons to help him find them.
These days he would have just used 'alexa' or whatever but they hadn't come up with that then.
I'm on facebook under a pseudonym because a charity I help with use it for fundraisers. I have whatsapp but only one person ever calls me on it. I hate all those things and don't 'socialise' on them generally, but you can't turn your face away entirely because so much of real life has become tangled up with it. It is possible to 'have' them and just not use them except when there's no option. I do.

josusa47, install Incognito Adblocker on your device. That stops most adverts. I used to use AdBlock Plus but started having issues with it.
Thank you, I might do that, but I'll try and find a bit more about it first. Using technology to help you use your technology seems a bit screwy to me. Reminds me of when I was buying a flat and I felt I needed a solicitor to protect me from my solicitor.
It's awful quiet out there. No birds . No music (property prices ensure locals are of a certain age) Leaves not moving. I'm hoping it's the calm before the storm. Fat chance. It's been like this for days - nothing.😕 Apparently, a downpour about five miles away ruined my daughter's hair - tough. Why doesn't the rain fall where it will be appreciated?
