@Obelixx Disaster! Can I suggest that OH plays in competitions where the prize is worth winning  ;)

Terrible isn't it @Biglad and in France to boot!   There's one at La Roche-sur-Yon nearly 20kms away but we won't be tempted.  He's going to offer them to friends instead.   Someone will have grandkids who think it's great.

OH plays Seniors on Thursdays and club matches on Sundays and doesn't get to choose who sponsors them.

Le Big Mac doesn't really appeal does it?  :s

I was a golf club member in my younger days. Only really had one good summer but bagged a set of crystal glasses and a digital camera when I won. We must be in recession if the quality of prize on offer now is anything to go by!!!

We've been here 4 years and I do tend to ignore prizes as they are never plants but I wouldn't expect a golf club with its own restaurant to be handing out such cr*p even in a recession.

My daughter has an app on her phone that tells you where all the planes are coming/going to - not much to see or much use at the moment and whats the point of it anyway.

    Quite!

I think I'd best go to bed, so far tonight, I've dropped and broken a plate and now I've just broken a shower fitting. I'm double miffed as I'd spent most of the morning giving it an extra deep clean as my sister's coming to stay tomorrow. Let's hope super glue lives up its name!

I hope it's the shower fitting you have glued.....not the plate    😉 😁

I love that app, Floralies. Often we sit out on the terrace and, in pre-Covid times, would track approaching planes seeing if they would fly directly overhead or veer off towards Stamford or closer to Leicester. It is interesting to see where they have come from and where they’re going to, how fast they’re flying and at what height. It is an idle, pointless pleasure like so much in life.

For most people, most of the time it's not much use.  For people picking up from an airport it's extremely useful.  If a flight has been delayed there is no point in sitting around at the airport for hours waiting, plus the cost of parking at airports is ridiculous.

Technology can be great as long as you control it and don't allow it to control you.  Some years ago I was given a phone by work and always left it in my desk when I went home.  I was then asked what would happen if they 'needed' to get hold of me, and I said they had my home number.  What if I was out?  Leave a message on the answering machine.
A colleague of mine used to take his with him even when he went abroad on holiday, in case anybody from work needed to get hold of him.  He was a total control freak who wouldn't delegate any work.
