@obelixx ... sadly my dear friend Joan,  who was such a wonderful cook and lived in France, passed away a few weeks ago

so I can no longer pick her brains 😞

Maybe @D0rdogne_Damsel       knows of a tart apple you can use for mint jelly.

Just popped in to send very best wishes to @punkdoc - and to Moira.  Also - hello @Obelixx!  You've been missed...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

What about Granny Smiths for mint jelly?

Hi @daffodilly  😊 Obelixx is in France and cannot get Bramleys, this is why she asked what my friends in France use for their mint jelly.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
it’s a beautiful morning ... the dawn chorus was amazing ... I’ve had a wander around the garden in my dressing gown ... have I told you that the newts are getting very amorous in the pond ... there’s quite a few of them.
The first two of our three roses are out ... rambler Francis E. Lester and the ever reliable Bonica. The Mayflower is full of buds but it’s always the last of the three to flower.
Francis E Lester always struggles a bit as it’s planted under the big ash tree ... but as time goes on it’s getting it’s roots more established and coping better.

Busy day yesterday - @punkdoc I do hope he gets better soon and back home with you, Moira.  I know you will keep us posted.  @Obelixx I don't make mint jelly and it is not really the apple season now.  My tadpoles haven't grown any legs yet - they need to hurry up, the mozzies are coming thick and fast. We have the Tiger Mosquito back again this year and have to empty stagnant water containers - under flowerpots, dog bowls, or keep an eye on them.  My nettle purin is getting distributed today as much as possible.  I also put out shallow bowls with stones in them for insects and birds.  I shall keep my eye on those.  Here's hoping you are enjoying these lovely pre-summer daze!!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
