Ive been sorting out the tangled mess of honeysuckle that was the result of the storm damaged fence ... OH has reinstated the wires and the honeysuckle is back on the fence and gently tied in ... it just looks āback to frontā at the moment ... never mind, the leaves will soon work out which direction the sun is coming from. āļøĀ
Ive also fed the two Clems on the pergola/arbour thingummy. This afternoon I plan to sit in the arbour and read... again ... Iāve finished my last book and started another. Ā šĀ
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just heard the sad news that Stirling Moss has died aged 90, not apparently from the virus. He was a lovely man, we met him and his wife at a very posh dinner some 15 years ago. He's always been a hero of mine, the only person I ever queued for to ask him for his autograph at a motor show many, many years ago. RIP
Afternoon folks,Ā Warm and cloudy here, they have forecast storms for tonight.Ā Have been busy in the garden potting up seedlings,Ā I have nearly run out of pots and plant labels and still have quite a few seedlings to pot on.Ā Considering I have over 300 pots that's quite an achievement.Ā Everything seems to have germinated well this year.Ā Probably because I have had more time to tend them.
Have sent an envelope of seeds to Merri and Mabel, hopefully they will sow them and enjoy watching them grow.Ā Every day Merri facetimes us, she is so funny.Ā I swear she will be a comedienne when she grows up.Ā Todays offering was all about painting her sisters hair in rainbow colours to support the NHS and the annual Easter Egg hunt.Ā Mabel did the easter egg hunt and promised Merri half of what she found (Merri was in the bath, being much too old at 11 to believe in the Easter Bunny).Ā When Merri came down there were 3 small eggs in her basket while Mabel had about 10.Ā Merrie said that doesn't look like half to me and Mabel informed her that they did have half each before she had eaten some of Merri's.
Had a quick walk round to the nearest post box to post a letter to mum along with the girls seeds.Ā Only passed about 2 people it was really quiet.
Hi everyone just catching up while I escape the thunderstorm, just my luck I have been sanding & de-rusting a garden bench seat. I had just spot treated the rust with some old (smooth ) Hammerite paint. Hope the wet has not ruined my work so far.! Just sent an email to GW letters page, some TV doctor supposedly encouraging gardening but saying allotments are too risky talk about mixed messagesĀ
Sad about Stirling Moss @Lizzie27, but also the wonderful Tim Brooke-Taylor, who did have the virus. Happy times watching him, Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden , growing up. RIP both of them. I don't know if anyone remembers the ads he [S. Moss]Ā did with Rikki Fulton, who had created a character on his shows up here called Supercop. I can't even remember what the ads were for, but they make me smile just thinking of them. He'd stop 'a driver' [speeding] and the first question was 'who do you think you are - Stirling Moss', and of course, it was him.Ā Lovely programme on R2 just now about The Carpenters. I can't listen to her without a lump in my throat. One of the saddest losses in the history of music. She was superb, and a great drummer. That version of Neil Sedaka's 'Solitaire' was faultless.Ā Cleared up here so got more jobs done. Nice to have some compost to do a few things. Grass cut too. We have a frost forecast for daylight tomorrow, as well as gusty winds tonight.Ā Ā I expect it's because people could be travelling in a car to their allotment @Allotment Boy, and it means more folk on the road. I think the thundery showers were to pass through quite quickly, so fingers crossed your bench will be fineĀ Hi @Bunny ... - not sure we've met before. I had one of your chocolate relatives earlierĀ
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Just had our first Zoom meeting with both my children, DIL and grandchildren plus Duke, the dog - great fun and worked well. Lovely to see them all, well and happy.
It was an ad for the Renault 20, OH tells me, @Fairygirl - we always thought it amusing as well.
Thanks @Lizzie27. I wondered if it had been petrol or something, as we used to have ads for those, back in the day.Ā I don't know if Rikki Fulton was well known in England/Wales? He was an iconic figure here, especially for his shows at Hogmanay. His Rev. I.M.Jolly was a highlight. My Dad, a Londoner, adored himĀ

Daughter has sent photos of the 3 boys Easter egg hunt in their garden in France. Looks a lovely day there too.
I'm not doing much today, tied up a couple of clematis, had lunch in the garden. Came in to get my book.
RIP both of them.
