Does anyone know where my Mixed spice is? I've had to make buns with just cinnamon and nutmeg ... and sultanas with no mixed peel ... I thought about grating some lemon zest into the mix but forgot. Duh! Anyway, they're proving and will be just right to have with a cuppa this afternoon ...
Not only have we robins building a nest but we have frogspawn ....... our garden has become a maternity unit! The responsibility!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I have spent most of the morning on the phone, chatting to friends, except when I was watering the garden. We could really do with rain for the plants, but for me I'm glad it's another warm and sunny day.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I shall be cutting some lilac for our farmer neighbour this pm. The French don't worry about it indoors it seems. I'll give her some wisteria blooms too. Her hubby says they're eating their meals off trays and separately which seems extreme but he did have bad pneumonia last year. He tells us the naughty Parisian has snuck back to his big holiday home in the hamlet round the corner from us. I wonder if our gendarme neighbour knows.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Lovely Easter Tree @chicky - enjoy your hugs, chats and time with your ‘little’ one 🐣
I’ve been doing a video of a game or quiz for my little niece each weekend. Last weekend I hid teddy bears in the garden and filmed walking round, so she had to spot them. This week’s video is a garden-themed ‘Kim’s Game’ - items on a tray then remove one at a time for her to guess.
Lovely @chicky I expect there might be some very strong squeezing chez Chick Towers later...
Could have sent you some mixed spice @Dovefromabove, but I guess it might have arrived too late. I'm happy to test out the new recipe though... I've been planting out little pots of 'things' that were divisions etc,and I sorted the shoogly handle on one of the brushes. Had to do a bit of whittling to get a good tight fit on it. Can't beat a bit of whittling of a Friday. Peg-leg Pete's had his lunch, and a drink out the pond, so he's happy. I suppose it could be a girl, but, as it has free food every day, and copious amounts at that, he/she can hardly complain.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Had a half hour power cut over lunchtime. There have also been a couple of blips in the last week so I hope we aren't in for a major failure. There is never a good time for it but right now it really isn't a welcome prospect.
Hi folks, Glad Chicklet is moving home. Been in the garden till 4.00 then had a quick shower before checking the Forum. I've cleared out the cold frame and moved some of the greenhouse plants in there. Moved some of the plants out of the conservatory and into the greenhouse. Just have about half a dozen trays of seedlings to pot up but they can wait a few days as they are still very small. It's been really hot here today so will need to water pots, greenhouse and new plants tonight.
That's not good news @Steephill, hope it doesn't happen here, we've got steak and chips for tonight!
I'm over the moon today, my wisteria is starting to bloom already. It's absolutely laiden with buds and will be lovely for all the walkers along the lane to see over the weekend.
(Don't know why the type is in green again, that's the second time?)

That is very pretty @chicky

I too have made a hot cross bun dough @Dovefromabove with 4 eggs, a bit of milk and loads of butter. New one on me and it says it has to prove overnight! https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/next-level-hot-cross-buns
