Ive have same guide in the latest DA brochure. I don't have anywhere near the amount of roses as some of you. Think I'm up to 40. But I don't have a rose that would tick all those boxes.
Same information in there that dosent correlate in my garden.. Such as best flowering Harlow Carr... Best for Health Claire Austin. I'd strongly disagree with those

Gabriel Oak seems to tick a lot of boxes, I will buy a potted version soon

Lycidas was one I was looking at for a specific spot. Along with Princess Anne and England’s rose. But the floppiness wouldn’t be any good for where I wanted it.

Looks great though @newbie77  love the colour!

I had the chance to smell Young Lycidas last year in our garden centre. I would say it is one of the best DAs for fragrance and its colour is beautiful and unusual. But something has always stopped me from buying. Probably the fear of the disease and its challenging growth habit.
I love seeing photos of Gabriel Oak and Silas Marner. I am still waiting but both should open soon. So far, I am impressed with both. Beautiful foliage, lots of buds. Gabriel Oak has leaves completely up to blooms and stems with tiny prickles, it reminds me of some portland roses but in everything else, it's a modern rose.

Yes, some roses (GJ, YL and Summer Song) I have got just to enjoy blooms and fragrance. I didnt plant them where I see them from patio so I wont worry about their looks. Their blooms will be to enjoy on kitchen counter or desk where I spend a lot of time working from home now!

...sorry this is going to sound awfully cynical, but I wouldn't trust those catalogue lists I'm afraid... whoever put those together doesn't know the roses they sell that well, or, they have over propagated those roses and these are the ones they need to shift.. because there is no way half of those on the best for fragrance list, and I've grown most, would make it to anybody's top 10...

… Young Lycidas looks a lot like Gabriel Oak today, but so many of them do look alike and it's hard to tell apart, from a single bloom..  I think YL is best grown in a pot, in an elevated position or on a bank of some sort..

I know it's a long shot because there are so many, but has anyone any experience of one called, to give it's full description, Old Blush (China) Parsons Pink, sold on Peter Beales's website.
