@Marlorena - My Lady of Shalott is also in full leaf still. I thought maybe it was down to being in a sheltered corner but obviously that's just what they do.

Ghislaine de Feligonde was evergreen for me last year. I had to pick every single leaf off.

Most of my roses are in full leaves except the BS prone types. If I take 1-2 days off work and weather supports I might be able to remove leaves. Should I remove or leave them as is.

It had been raining and raining and soggy. I am afraid if I put my feet in the bed, I will be planted!!!

It’s such a shame Marie Nabonnand isn’t available, I remember your gorgeous photos @Marlorena and glad it wasn’t a victim of your fence project. Roses Loubert have Noella Nabonnand, was interested to read about it on HMF, the fact that it is vigorous and some say it does well on hot, south-facing walls. I was seriously tempted, but have resisted, so far...

@newbie77 I defoliated mine recently because I still had rose slugs and wanted to try and break the cycle, but otherwise there is no pressing need. I wouldn’t bother taking time off just to defoliate, you can leave it ‘till you prune in a month or two. Unless you are just looking for a good excuse 😆

  • @Marlorena ... lady of shalott on my wish-list for next year ( the deal is i have to keep the ones I got in reasonable health before i add any!)

...Desi... I intend to encourage you further this coming season... 'Lady of Shalott' is without question one of the best roses I've ever grown.. providing you enjoy the colour, which is quite strong, in your face even, on a large bush...   not everyone likes the scent either, but I do...  an exceptional rose in every way, once beyond its youth stage...

Gorgeous bouquet, makes me feel like spring is not too far away.
