Thank you. I think here where i live im at ground zero for every disease and pest on earth. I'm just recovered from covid my roses have black spot and rosettes disease and I have a den of beavers eating all my trees and plants!!! I'm trying to put wire around all my trees. We have no response to rosettes but to dig up the roses and burn them. I know everyone thinks spraying is terrible but I would like to grow some roses!
...seems like you got your share of problems there... If you got rosette then maybe not grow roses but try other plants.. I like Beavers but spose I wouldn't want them in my garden..Glad you got over covid anyway..
@Silver surfer ...well, I started this one in March, which I think for roses is soon enough, maybe mid Feb, something like that, allowing for members in warmer climates who start earlier than we do... we don't have that much to talk about Jan/Feb time, so if left up to me, I don't think it's worth starting another one just yet, but another member might be wanting to initiate one earlier..
Which rose is that @Marlorena-- ie is it the kind of rose or where it is in your garden that means it wakes early/stays awake? ( also thanks so much again for the bare root advice , two are in their permanent big pots now, 1 is in a temporary 12litre pot until i can get a big enough one , and one is in a 8-ish litre growpot until i can take it to my mum for the next care visit -- i've lightly wrapped the smaller pot sides in bubblewrap insulation just in case it gets too cold overnight consecutively).
@Desi_in_London ...Desi... that's Marie Nabonnand, a rose no longer offered in UK unfortunately... some Austins are still going well, like Lady of Shalott... lots of fat buds, I've just picked them for a vase, as I like my roses to get a rest if possible, it's also virtually evergreen... Jude the Obscure is another that never seems to stop producing... very similar growth and performance habits..
..delighted you've got your pots more or less organised...
..one of my recently potted bare roots, already showing a bud.. 'Marie van Houtte'... ..these are my 2 'own root' 'Munstead Wood's... ready to plant out soon..
