William Shakespeare 2000 (which Trevor White has) is another alternative. Like Falstaff, similar to MW and both allegedly a bit more vigorous so might suit better as a single specimen @owd potter. If your heart is set on MW there is definitely still availability from other good growers. Given MW is being discontinued by DA, I expect there has been a bit of a rush on!
Gale force winds here at the moment, had to dash out and cut a third off Julia Child and Lady Emma Hamilton which were being rocked so much they were in danger of being uprooted!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I too have been put off MW as a choice of red rose. So have been looking at roses from Style roses as @Tack mentioned them and they are just down the road from me. These are a possibility, anyone have any experience of these three? Help much appreciated.
@poppyfield64 Shame you don't live closer, we could give you a swarm. We let them freely swarm, don't destroy queen brood so this year they swarmed 3 times. We collected one for someone but hopefully the others found their way to waiting owners with empty hives which I understand there are plenty of around here.
I am impressed with Odyssey, the blooms last well for 4 days at the moment. The lower photos below I took on Thurs, just taken the new pics on top row, same single bloom. @Lizzie27You have a great selection of roses. Pale is good when light levels are low I think. I have Royal William and I would thoroughly recommend it as a good non-fading strong red, is that your experience? Originally I wanted Velvet Fragrance but it was out of stock , maybe another for the red hunters to consider. Sorry I can't help with the ones you've listed @purplerallim.
many thanks @Nollie, i'll take a look at your suggestions. That may well explain MW being sold out then, my own fault really for dithering about... EDIT. In truth my heart is not set on MW. In fact, from what I have gleaned from you folks, I think it may be a bit small and looks like being at least 3 years to fully develop properly, but the deep crimson colour is everything for the location I have in mind and MW is perfect.
Does anyone know whether DA discontinue roses when they have a new similar one lined up? Musing whether next year's offerings might include a dark red/purple, they have very few dark ones to be considering retiring MW.
Ena's last hurrah. Quite a few buds for this final flush. I love the long light on the brickwork at the front of the house (south facing). I planted her in such a tricky spot - between two front paths, against two adjacent walls; it's like she's in a container (of concrete). It's amazing that she has grown at all, given the obstacles. I'd love something more vigorous to grow around the front door (as was the original plan) but the little planting spot is just too small, I think. Seven years in and she still needs regular watering through the summer.

I'll cast the net a little further around.
