    That's a shame @Mr. Vine Eye, hopefully you might get 3 plants out of it though. I watched a squirrel this morning running up a long slender shoot of my Ispahan rose but he had to jump off when it bent right over with his weight.

    @celcius_kkw ,
    Congratulations for the allotment! Looking forward to your allotment updates. Have you started planning what would you grow.

    Name the rose that has given you most pleasure this season... performed better than expected? taken you by surprise?

    @Fire The viewing last week was a whirlwind tour.. I will have to check out what sort of weed I’ve got on the plot once I receive my key in a week or two..

    @Mr. Vine Eye gosh I’m so glad mine is just grass..! The lady who showed me the plot did say this plot is in a decent shape.. I didn’t have anything to compare to at the time so I didn’t truly appreciate what she said..! Have you got an ‘after’ photo of your plot?

    @ma@Marlorena this plot is sort of like a community project, I could keep it for as long as I need to but if I do like allotment gardening after next year I will probably apply for a full plot for myself so that I can make space for whoever might want to take on this plot... that’s why I reckon I would only be on this plot for a maximum of a couple of years.

    @Omo@Omori  Is TCL the rozenlottum company? I just had a quick look and they do look very economical indeed!! My list of plants for the allotment is growing by the second!

    @lizz@Lizzie27 Where did you buy those roses from? I wouldn’t mind a scentless rose for the allotment provided they make up for that with exceptional health and blooms..

    @newb@newbie77 my list is growing by the minute.. my main bed would be for 20 dahlias for cut flowers, and I plan on growing foxgloves and lupins on the edges of the plot. Crops wise, I’m going for white sweetcorn, rainbow carrots and red pumpkins - exotic varieties that I can’t easily find in supermarkets basically.. 😊

    @celcius_kkw there are some great ongoing allotment threads going on this forum - from scratch to full productivity. Fascinating to watch the changes.

    @celcius_kkw, my 5 bush roses came via an advert in Garden News (a cheap weekly gardening magazine in 2019. Four have been very good (thought not of course top quality bare roots). The fifth, the only one I planted in the ground, was the smallest with only two canes and short roots I'm not sure of yet. It may have rose re-plant problems though but at the price, 4 out of five is good enough for me. The compost and rose food cost much more!
    I'd seen the same advert many times and eventually succumbed both to the photos and out of sheer curiousity.

    JParkers also do a job lot for cheap.
  • Congratulations on your allotment @celcius_kkw, how exciting.  I hope you do a progress thread.

    I received my order from TCL today, I think most look alright, not sure about one.

    This is the one I thought a little lean roots wise, Fru Dagmar Hastrup. Any thoughts? I also gave one of the branches a little scratch to check it was still green (it is!).
