I think we should all have a Moss rose in our future @Tack I'm quite excited about Leda, it's the only one I ordered purely because I liked it, without applying a sensible/practical filter. Hopefully I haven't put it on a pedestal it can never live up to! I like the look of your rose Jingle Bells. I've never heard of it before but apparently very fragrant? I'm in the market for a fragrant pink for a pot next year and am already composing a long compare list.
Thanks @newbie77, hope your LEH does ok, mine looks fairly substantial, I guess it is just the luck of the draw. I'm putting mine on my 'lawn' edge with The Poet's Wife in the same bed that has Rhapsody in Blue so I'm hoping for a blast of fragrance every time I pass!
Thanks @Marlorena, yes I'm sure it'll be fine. I suppose Mousseline is a little small but I thought it had a decent tangle of roots. I'm a little sad that is the last of my orders for this year but it's good to see the garden taking shape.
@celcius_kkw I ordered in August and added to order in September so as it was before despatch time for bareroots I can't really give a lead time, sorry. It took 5 days from despatch to arrive, delivery to Wearside.
@Mr. Vine Eye, I am amazed at how much progress you have made on the allotment. I am always impressed how you plan and implement. I wish I was so organised and effective.
Amazing value, yes. Wonder what the future holds for our continental orders? Have you attempted an order, just in time, from Italy @Marlorena. I was wondering what caught your eye.
Blimey, pages and pages to catch up on. Yes the orders are coming in thick and fast now and some really interesting varieties, @Victoria Sponge and @Tack. I’m glad you got your Prince, Tack, looks a good, sturdy one.
I have found the missing Salita available from a German supplier, who also has Souvenir de Marcel Proust, so I’m wondering whether to take a punt. Of course, my self imposed minimum of three per order means there is a further vacancy 😃 I’m considering whether to go for Maréchal Niel or Crépuscule to add to my planned parade of climbing tea/noisettes along the honeysuckle fedge.
@celcius_kkw congrats from me too, how exciting. New TCL orders will now come in 2021 according to the website, so who knows how that will work and whether you will need to pay for a phytosanitary cert. No harm in placing an order, they don’t require payment upfront so you or they can always cancel if Brexit gets in the way.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Hi all, I've got most of my bare roots into their final positions and most have promising looking buds. Im still a perenials man at heart so will be mixed borders. My biggest rose bed will comprise a number of da's, Gabriel oak. I had planned and have just planted a number of geranium rozanne around its perimeter, but on reflection, i think Rozanne and Gabriel oak may have a major colour clash?? Has anyone seen them together or get any thoughts on if they work together or not? Not too late to move the rozanne..
@Rickyjones24 ...Ricky... Geranium rozanne is good in the first year with roses.. after that, it becomes a monster.. I would be concerned for your Gabriel Oak's from then on.. the colours would be fine for me... but here's a picture of Geranium Rozanne after just 2 seasons I think, swamping a big shrub rose behind it... this is a June picture, by September it's 5 foot tall by 8 feet wide... it will climb through or swamp anything in its path.. that's my experience of this Geranium..
@Tack ...oh there are quite a few... well there would be where we are all concerned.. but the one I notice they have is called 'Zepeti'.. under the ground cover roses.. I asked Meilland in the summer if they would send me 3 direct, but they said the rose is not being sold in the UK and they could not ship me any... it's a rose with some controversy due to its excessive patent protection applied in the U.S. which has upset a lot of people.. ..I wanted it for my greenhouse to give it a try... it's only a small patio rose really with exceptional health...
..just one amongst quite a few...
..incidentally, I haven't grown Dioressence or Blueberry Nip, but the others you have are familiar... just to say about Alexandre Girault, which is my favourite rambler - if you want another, it's very easy to strike from cuttings and it grows just as rapidly, almost better even than the grafted plant... not that you will have any problems with its vigour.. a fabulous rambler, with surprisingly continuous bloom if left unpruned during summer..
