I’m not sure if anyone is interested but Crocus are doing 20% off roses, just thought I’d pass it along. I’ve bought some in the past during a sale and they were good strong roses.
I use the camera only occasionally though as it takes a lot longer to sort the photos out ready to upload than just using my phone.
I've noticed that my The Generous Gardener is very inconsistent with its thorniness!
Look at these two canes. One of them has a very high tpi density (thorns per inch) mix of large and small from the base til about half way up.
But the other cane is almost thornfree! Odd one or two lower down but then you'd be hard pressed to find one at all!
Malvern Hills is very pleasantly smooth and low on thorns. Plus lovely red stems. I think it's great! I really like the foliage shape and colour too. I'd grow it even if it didn't flower. But it is covered in little buds at the moment.
Yay! Congratulations on your first bloom @Marlorena!
Yes I have seen Othello, looks nice. I bought The Prince on impulse, because it’s blooms are meant to be heat tolerant so long as it is not in afternoon sun, but the foliage is non too impressive, gets windburn really easily. I need to find a more sheltered spot for it and give it time, but I just have a feeling it’s not going to work!
I am trialling The Prince’s Trust by Harkness as well, which looks rather more vigorous, so far:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Can anyone help i have these 2 roses but neglected them over winter due to a wedding taking priority! What can I do to help them? Could I prune or am I way to late? Both produced amazing displays the last 2 years
@Samridout92 welcome to Roses Sam... I'm going to ask any of the other members to answer your questions because I tend to talk too much and I should allow others to speak... if not, then I'll get back to you.. it would help to know the names of the roses though...
@Nollie ...thanks.. colder tomorrow, so I may not see any more for a few days... ….that looks a thorny rose.. .care needed I think.. but I know it's a good red.. can't wait to see it..
@Mr. Vine Eye ..yes I found that too with The GG... it makes me laugh when they have some roses down as low thorn, and then you see that on yours...

@Samridout92 oh ok Sam, thank you for that information... I will answer you here because I'm not sure how familiar other members might be with these two roses..
...do this.. Cut both back by half.. using scissors or pruners... don't worry where you cut, just straight across the middle... ...they will look bare but will soon recover.. ...top up compost in pots by adding another 1 inch layer.. ...feed with inorganic granular fertilizer, like miracle gro, growmore or similar.. they need feeding.. ...the pots look dry, a good watering will be needed after the above... ...supplement with liquid tomato feed or whatever you have during the season..
...no need for sprays..
'Sweet Dream' is lovely isn't it.. I don't know Peachy but treatment is the same..best of luck and show us pics later when in flower...
