it didn’t quite go as intended. The main cane snapped, but luckily it spawned three others. I had planned to start it zig zagging lower down but that vigorous cane was much too stiff.
My aim is to have that sort of cross crossing pattern going up the narrow wall sections on both sides of that corner, then straight across, above and below the main window on the right . Then it will also carry on above the French doors which you can’t see but they’re just round the corner.
If it grows enough it can carry on, onto the main house wall. Judging by how much it grew last year it wouldn’t surprise me if it got there eventually!
I have a rose growing in a large pot - the leaves are slightly yellow - what would cause this? Showing two other roses, the pink flowered one is MY MUM and the yellow flower is CHINA TOWN.
Lady Emma Hamilton finally taking off, although the blooms are fairly splotched already - the rain has finally given over and it’s turned pretty hot, so no rain to spare you just now @Marlorena!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Sorry I can't help with your leaf issue GD, I hope you get it sorted.
First rose of the year for me, the sweet Celebration 2000:
Flowers are small, not much bigger than a geum. This will be its second summer in the garden and it has plenty of buds. I'm looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks.
Walked past a lovely front garden yesterday, tall full hedge made of several different roses with flowers and ramblers covered in 100s of buds. Mixed in with Geraniums and all sorts. What a lovely screenings hedge and a real treat for passers by. I did stick my nose in a bloom, semi double, pinky purple - was gorgeous.
Would have taken a photo photo but my phone has been smashed to smithereens by my nearly two year old and I'm awaiting a replacement!
Some lovely rose pictures, makes me want to go and buy more roses! Noticed that the potted Gabriel Oak is now sold out on David Austin's site, must be a very popular rose! I am actually relieved- means that I can now stop torturing myself whether to buy it now or not! I usually always buy my roses during the bare root season anyway, I'm sure I'll find an excuse to buy it this coming winter...
@newbie77- wow, your sweet-peas look amasing! The fragrance must be heavenly when in full bloom! I have never had much luck with sweet-peas.
Here's some more roses blooming in my garden. All looking a bit drenched as had to use the sprinkler this morning, haven't had rain for weeks and no rain forecast.
