Your garden is looking good @Mr. Vine Eye. I like what you are doing in the area with Scarborough Fair and Munstead Wood, great colour mix. I notice your Munstead Wood is a nice shape too, mine looks like a broken umbrella.
I went back to Tuincentrum Lottum and added another rose, a China called Perle d'Or so that's now four in that order. I'm not going to bother them again so if I change my mind I'll have to wait until next year.
Ness. When this first flowered I wasn't overwhelmed, it seemed somewhat nondescript but now it is a much bigger plant I'm getting quite fond of it. I'd like a nice mound of a rose there so I hope it grows as big as promised. It looks like it hasn't much space but those plants are just fillers taking advantage. The flowers are often blemished so maybe not for everyone but the overall effect is very healthy and happy.
Main spike on MW looking quite red in this light:
Editing to add I didn't see those photos above before I posted @Omori. Agree with Lizzie27, is stunning.
Thank you very much @Lizzie27 and @Victoria Sponge ! My MW is somewhat awkward shape as well, I'm desperately hoping for some basals next year, to whom do I need to pray to to get this to happen I like seeing the same roses growing in different gardens. Your Ness looks lovely and healthy, that glossy foliage is very nice.
finally a bloomn onton sickly Claire Austin I bought. Not much scent on this one but we'll see. I want to create a littl mixed display with it and GdeF to conceal the cat house! No concealing this one though!
Great orders everyone too, I am looking forward to seeing Perle d'Or... it was on my list for some time but that list is way too long.
I still need to order from Trevor White and I am too agonizing over it. I wish I had more space for once-bloomers. Some corner of a big garden where they could have their moment of glory and then simply blend into other greenery.
Lovely photos, making me feel both inspired and inadequate at the same time! @Omori Lady Emma Hamilton looks so lovely - I was pondering her as my apricot/orange for next year, but of course, I've missed the boat now she's been withdrawn
@Marlorena many thanks. I must admit to confusion and dither between LEH, LoS and Roald Dahl. I like LEH's dark glossy foliage, but not clear on the differences between the three growth habits/forms. Any expert insights gratefully received!
@Pianoplayer ..well, Lady of Shalott can grow quite large, a different type of rose altogether from the other two, which appear to stay short, although I don't have them... ..If you want the best scent with colourful stems, then Lady Emma H ..if you want the largest.. then Lady of Shalott ..if you want probably the healthiest, then Roald Dahl..
..incidentally, I notice they have a whole bed of Roald Dahl in the newly opened East Terrace garden at Windsor Castle.. if you see photos of it, and notice an apricot/yellow rose, I'm pretty certain that's RD...
