Lovely roses - I especially like the look of Chippendale, Agnes Schilliger and Kiss me Kate

Not a clue where any of them would go mind you!
    That's a problem for November.
Similarly with too large climbers - problem for 2023.

@iaincd... What does myrrh smell like? It's obviously a biblical smell...but of what in the modern world, I have no idea.

@peteS Myrrhis odorata, not the incense/biblical myrrh. It's a spicy anise-like fragrance. People usually love it or hate it. There weren't many roses with this type of fragrance before DAs, they are said to get it from a gallica 'Belle Isis'. It's becoming more common among modern roses now.

@edhelka...I've never come across an incense smell I like, so that's a relief. I will make it my mission therefore to try and smell something akin to the more modern version, but reading your post it might turn out to be a Marmite moment.

@peteS yes, I was comparing it to a couple of DA roses I've sniffed or had in the past that are said to have a myrrh fragrance - 'Constance Spry' and 'Sceptr'd Isle'. Edhelka is right, it has an anise quality and I really like it although I know many don't. I've also sniffed perfumes said to smell of myrrh and they usually have a spicy, sweet, amber kind of scent, heavier than the roses.

@peteS If memory serves, you have Gentle Hermione? That one has a strong myrrh fragrance.

Smells like a Fisherman’s Friend, on Bathsheba anyway.

im not that keen, but I don’t actively dislike it either. Not rushing for a sniff.
