@Nollie thank you for the info, that's very helpful. It's growing between two tree stumps so hoping it will over time cover them, so a light pruning would be perfect. It's put on some good growth already in the short time I've had it and has quite a few buds.
It's way too tempting to add more to my order. The trouble is by the time I've researched one I end up coming across more to add to my list and so it goes on.
@Tack so frustrating when that happens especially after they have done so well.

@Marlorena I know you have C. Viennetta which always looks gorgeous in your photos. However mine is looking positively anaemic. I have around 10 flowers at the moment and not a trace of purple on any of them.
@poppyfield64 ...you have 10 flowers more than me, as my plant flowers from June to August,.. I don't think I've seen any later, but I do recall the last bloom was much like yours...I don't water mine either, if I did I might get more flowers as it's so dry here.. ... all will be well next June.. clematis can look quite different between early and late in the season.. I quite like the green and white actually..
@K67 In my head I’m planning on deadheading my future rugosa up to October before leaving them to set hips.. I see you’ve got yours starting already this time of the year? It seems vigorous enough.. I think I’ll just have to give it a go.. warily of course having heard of your experience..
@edhelka That’s has a lovely colour.. but its fragrance is rated as light only according to DA’s website that sells it..
@newbie77 I don’t think you can beat Warm Welcome for a continuously flowering bright orange, but have also ordered Alexander, Salita and Super Trouper in my quest to find another good, non-fading orange.
@celcius_kkw how about Blanc Double de Coubert for a hybrid rugosa? Semi-double white, repeat flowering, strong fragrance?
@Tack, sorry to see that in your DE. Hmm, it does support my theory about Weeks roses, that when they decide to get blackspot they blow super fast. I think the bloom power of them more than compensates though, especially with JC, which for most people it is extremely healthy. I have another Weeks on order, the lavender-coloured Love Song.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@celcius_kkw what a beautiful bouquet! I'm beginning to worry about pruning! I have been researching but I'm not getting my head around it. For example my GJ has thrown up a nice big healthy cane. Am I right that come late winter/ early spring I prune this cane right back? It will be going in the ground before spring too. My GJ is the only one of my roses to throw up a nice cane like this 🙁
@rock_hen, whenever my DA rose throws an octopus arm, i let it grow till it gives me a bouquet of flowers at the tip of it. It is floppy but worth the wait for that bunch. Then i cut the flower bunch and put it on vase in kitchen to enjoy the fragrance. By that time usually the cane is pencil width thick at bottom part. I leave around 12-14 inch height and cut off the rest. In a few days, it creates a branch from that. Now this is all my own method. No expertise here, this is my first year with roses.
