Saved by Covid @Marlorena! I was going to replace it this Spring with a white flowering shrub but all online orders ceased. The cooler, wet weather here is pretty unusual, it might revert to doing nothing next year!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@rock_hen My teasing Georgia didn't do much last year (planted as bare root in March) but this year is much better. The flowers are still a bit inclined to droop their heads but overall the growth is much stronger and very healthy. Mine is on the west facing side of the house and doesn't get any sun until mid afternoon. I have a clematis about 3ft away but it was very tiny when it was planted so I hope their roots were far enough apart to allow them both to grow.
Thank you @Marlorena that is really helpful! I am currently cutting back the grass and have taken the obelisk away for now and removed the nearby plants. I don't really have any open spaces which makes me wonder, how do you put a new rose into am established bed? If they need space to get going, is it best to put them in a large pot for a couple of years?
@Katsa I don't have Young Lycidas but I almost bought it last year after seeing it in our garden centre. Very fragrant and I truly loved the fragrance. But I never bought it because I was worried about disease issues and its growth habit. Now after having Gabriel Oak, I don't want YL anymore because their colours are a bit too similar.
Hiya @edhelka thanks for helping! I just repotted it and the roots were very tight up to the pot. The guy at the GC said it had been there a long while so with the hot weather and closures, my guess would be underwatered. I've put it in a spot with sun for half the day and behind other plants for shelter. Fingers crossed!
@poppyfield64 just catching up on the thread! Where did you get your Cheshire rose? I'm looking for one with Cheshire in the name as it's where I grew up. I've only seen Cheshire Regiment and the ground cover Cheshire rose so far!
Munstead Wood at Scampston today. No flowers but I mentioned this one a while ago when we were discussing Munstead Wood's growth. So thought I'd take a photo.
Royal Jubilee in my garden, very impressed with it - has flowered continuously and they've held up well in the rain.
Thank you @Marlorena for recommending Aster Monch - looks great and I can tell that the colour is going to look really good next to Vanessa Bell, will soon see as she's got lots of buds ready to open.

I will do that today!
