I don't know why but Marlorena's just called to me every time it was pictured. When I saw it still available potted this year it was not a difficult decision even though it was from overseas.
My TcL order is too long: Odyssey, Keros, Eufemia, Chantal Thomass, Purple Lodge, Papa Meilland, Rose de Rescht, Souvenir de Malmaison and Glamis Castle. I am getting nervous about disease though with those older ones now. I don't want to introduce a pestilent reservoir.
That Marie Theresia looks rather lovely @micmarg and I'm kind of glad your shopping list is longer than mine!
You have some sweet roses @Tack and I like the look of Chantal Thomass on your list.
The flowers on the possible Lady Gardener are wonderful @edhelka, what a shame about the foliage.
I changed some of my list yesterday after a moment of inspiration and I've asked TCL if I can add Leda to my order. Leda is only a once flowerer so I suppose doesn't have much value but it's one I've always liked the look of with the flower shape and pink bud/white flower mix so I'm going for it. Beales say it is very fragrant and good for poor soil and I have some of that.
@Ffoxglove, I bought Ivor’s Rose to be pink, as it will be here so no problem for me. It can get much bigger than Beales says, btw, 2m high x 3.5m wide according to HMF and some of the photos on there prove it. I will be giving it lots of room!
@Tack I got rid of Charles Darwin because of the muddy cream colour it goes, really doesn’t like heat.
Rose de Molinard on the other hand, spoils in the rain but doesn’t mind the heat and has finally thrown up a metre long cane, it’s been stubbornly stuck at the bottom of the obelisk up until now. Perhaps I just need to rig up a brolly over it when rain is forecast!
I agree Diamond Eyes sails through heat, doesn’t stop blooming either:
Lady of Shallot has been dormant for months, but is now giving me the odd scattered bloom:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@edhelka, do you know much about Guillot roses? I keep browsing their website and rather fancied one or two of their Generosa roses, but no idea about disease or weather resistance.

@Nollie Not much. I first found Massad's roses through his newer website, Petales de Roses and was impressed by the colour combinations. Some are borderline garish but many are unique. But I am afraid you are right about possible problems, I think when breeder gets some very unique colour, there's a temptation to introduce it to the world if it isn't completely bad in other properties.
His work for Guillot is less unique, the Generosa collection is their response to the DA trend. I have to say I don't trust French roses but they are pretty. I also like Paul Bocuse (described as susceptible to BS on HMF) and Versigny but Agnes Schilliger looks to me like a safer bet. But who knows.
They are grown a lot in continental Europe and in Eastern Europe. They seem to do well there, with warm summer and lower disease pressure. I remember a thread about them on Czech rose forum and most people were happy with them.
This morning I looked out of the window and thought ‘it looks like it’ll soon be the first time that Royal Jubilee will have been without flowers since it started end of May’.
But actually it’s very close, if this bud opens before that flower finishes then it might just manage to continue the streak!
Amber Queen
Rhapsody in Blue
Munstead Wood
Emily Brontë
Gabriel Oak
The Ancient Mariner
Scarborough Fair, Munstead Wood, The Ancient Mariner, The Generous Gardener extreme top-right corner, Mortimer Sackler top left
Echinacea, Kew Gardens - centre right, Vanessa Bell - bottom left
I was planning to use the boscobel and two my my RDs to create a mixed border along the front of the house. It's probably about 5-6m long and does get shaded by two cherry trees so if you can think of better options, do let me know!
Vanessa bell will go against a new shed as will the two lady Hamiltons.
Soul and gruss an aachen were impulse buys.
Im tempted by Young Lycidas (still) but not sure how it holds up to shade and/or disease resistance.
Otherwise I may chuck in the Lark Ascending or Olivia rose Austin.
@poppyfield64@Marlorena I simply adore The New Dawn and have had them for the last 50 years. As I do quite a lot with dog pedigrees I have kept details for a number of years of New Dawn in a similar format and I just thought you may be interested as you have mentioned her "children". You might need a magnifying glass to see this pedigree

...nice to see Odyssey there... it has such glowing stamens, I hope you like it ..[the dark bits are pollen beetles]
