@edhelka I love your Scarborough Fair....its very pretty.
@Marlorena thanks I am very happy with her. I've been willing that first bud to open for weeks now.
So I believe Graham Thomas is offspring from Charles Austin. Is the connection between Charles Austin & Dixieland Linda through Aloha? If so I'm not sure what the connection is.
@Edhelka, your red unnamed HT couldn't be Black Baccara I suppose? I don't know why I looked at the photo and thought immediately that was it, I've never grown it.
@Lizzie27 I think it's Deep Secret but I am not sure. There used to be one Deep Secret plant in the garden which I removed, so can't compare, but the previous owner often planted multiples. It's very fragrant with a spicy note. Too many fragrant red HTs that look similar.
Sir John Mills back in bloom. It has put on loads of growth inbetween flushes and I'm sure will be at the top of my post next season.
Like all my roses the older growth has Blackspot but that's just where I live so I'll ignore it and enjoy the flowers.
Mamma Mia was bought earlier in the year and it's taken a while to settle so these will be it's first blooms, Im hoping the colour is what I have in my mind. They've taken ages to appear.
@poppyfield64 ...Dixieland Linda is a genetic mutation of Aloha, so they are virtually the same rose, in a different colour... Aloha is a parent of Charles Austin.. ..both Aloha and Charles Austin have been used by DA for their breeding programmes.. CA especially... ..so yes very closely connected... not quite sure how to put that in human terms though.. It's a rose that should be very suitable for Cornish weather... [I don't know why I don't have it here to be honest... something I might need to put right]..
A lot of desirable roses shown today. Honourable mentions for Dixieland Linda, Scarborough Fair, RdV, Sir John Mills and NoID Front Garden.
I finally planted Blush Noisette Elina has started the second flushClaire Austin is giving me something finally, foliage looking better behind the lupinRambling Rosie hasn't stopped
We've had a lot of heat (and dry), I am pleased how long and attractively my new Heidi Klum and Wildberry have hung on to their bloomsOn the other hand I'm not sure I would ever choose Milky Tea coloured roses. Charles Darwin smells great and is healthy and floriferous but in the very hot position that it is, in a terracotta pot, the scorching temperatures have done the colour no favoursDiamond Eyes next to it has no such problems
@Marlorena I find that all so fascinating especially as I now have 3 that are so closely linked. I have the urge to get Aloha now as well.
I've just been reading about rose sports and I think I have a better understanding now of the genetic mutation that can happen. I suppose in human terms Dixieland Linda would also be the parent of Charles Austin.
