@Nollie, I think you're being a bit too critical of your RdeM if it's such a young plant. If it has a strong fragrance that you really like, wouldn't it be worth giving it a reprieve for another year?!!
@Omori and @Nollie thank you both. Its was amazingly bright but have to say that today it's looking much more toned down but still very pretty with lovely ruffled petals.
I think your LEH is gorgeous Nollie. Just the colours I like. Very tempted to get a bare root as all the potted ones are out of stock everywhere. Any idea how she stands up to the rain as we do get more than our fair share here.
@Marlorena thank you. They have certainly gotten off to a good start so far.
Can I ask some advice on my teasing georgia. I bought it around this time last year along with a Compassion rose. My compassion is full of strong, healthy growth and has had lots of beautiful flowers. The teasing Georgia is weak and spindley, hardly grown at all. The flowers were all floppy like they were too heavy for the stems and looked overall pretty awful. The leaves don't look great either just small and weak looking. Will it get better? or should I move it to somewhere where it won't depress me everytime I look at it and replace it with a healthy rose?
@rock_hen ... could you show a photo of your T G rose please? both the whole bush, however small, and a close up of the base of the rose would be useful.. ...this was a potted rose you planted last summer I presume.. firmed in well?.. and have you noticed any ants nest around the base? also what was growing there before, if anything.. ..for some reason the rootstock on your rose has not grown sufficiently to supply the rose with all it needs, hence the weak growth and droopy blooms, weak necks. etc.. all very typical of first year DA roses, or even into the 2nd year.. Teasing Georgia was initially introduced as a medium sized shrub rose, not a climber... it was only later they found it had the ability to grow much larger, so is now sold as a climbing rose... so you won't see it to best effect until it sends out a long cane from the base.. so what have you fed it with?... ..catch up tomorrow...
@poppyfield64 We get some incredible downpours here and my LEH has behaved well. When it’s very humid it can go a bit splotchy but nothing too horrible (here at least).
Bumblebee visiting Malvern Hills this morning. Love having it framing the window. It's been great this year, two big flushes so far which overlapped, it's not been without flowers since it started flowering end of May!
@rock_hen I shall be very interested in @Marlorena 's advice and comments on your TG, as you describe my Susan Williams-Ellis to a T! One in particular is really pathetic.
Oh and yes planted from a pot rose I bought from my local garden centre, it looked great when I bought it.It is in the sunniest spot in the garden, getting full sun for most of the day.
