@evelin I had the same problem with my climbing honeysuckle. I tried for 5 years moving it to different spots but continually got mildew so I binned it last month. I did have a bush one years ago that never had any problems.
Well I succumbed to ordering from TcL after days of staring at them in my cart.
Have decided to go for Lady Emma Hamilton, Easy Does It, Yves Piaget and Dioressence (although they have it as Diorescense) and Golden Wings.
@Mr. Vine Eye, i am with you. I have been telling myself I shouldnt buy any roses but then something in back of mind says i dont have any open roses like kew garden, or any like for your eyes only and that emperor charles looked so good!
@poppyfield64 I recently started using it, too early to tell for sure but so far things are looking promising. Will be a better test when I start using it from the get go next year.
@Voyagerxp thank you for getting back to me. I don't mind the size but would love something for the bees and this sounds like it might be a good one for that.
@Omori I'm thinking of giving it a go too next spring. Probably not on all of mine but just the problem ones to see if it helps. I specifically want to try it on my Graham Thomas that suffers the most with BS but has wonderful blooms.
Hi @Nollie im sorry to hear about your chateau de cheverny rose..it looks unhappy to be sure. My CM has been bugging me since delivery as it's never been good but I've even written to Harkness about it and have been ignored! Thanks both @nollie and @edhelka for the diagnosis! Now to try and sort it. 🙏
From TCL: Olivia Rose Austin - DA shrub - I want another one, I think I will use it in symmetrical design in the front garden. Mrs Herbert Stevens, cl. - climbing HT - a lot of tea character, does well in the UK and northern Europe. Rosa Glauca Snow Ballet - ground cover - I want to try this in a hanging basket or a tiered planter with other plants, as a summer display. Chippendale - Tantau shrub - Has a very good reputation, I want something in this colour, strong fragrance. Plaisanterie - hybrid musk - mutabilis-like hybrid musk, what's not to love. Agnes Schilliger - Generosa shrub - I've wanted something from Massad for a long time, nice colour, "Strong, cinnamon, raspberry, spice, strawberry fragrance". Marie Pavie - polyantha - as a standard tree - I want her wafting fragrance in nose height and it's a legendary rose, flowering early too.
From Beales: Kiss me Kate - Kordes climber - fragrance, health, everything about that rose. General Schablikine - tea - I want a tea and I want to use it in my amateur breeding experiments. I wanted pink, double, fertile (ideally both seed-fertile and pollen-fertile) and some fragrance as a bonus.
