    Does anyone shop in Tesco? have you seen David Austin roses in their stores? if so, just out of curiosity, how much are they going for, do you know?...
    I've just been reading Horticultural Week and apparently David Austins seriously do not approve...

    @poppyfield64 It depends on your support and how you want to train it. It can be quite fragile at this stage, so I wouldn't do any bending.
  • Yes @Marlorena I’ve seen them and heard a lot of people have been buying them. They are £15 but not quite the quality of DA own roses apparently. They all have a passport on back of the plant label and are from Holland it seems as they have had a lot of unsold stock this year of which Tesco have decided to buy!

    @Daniel Rutherford
    ..thanks Daniel.. £15 compared to about £25 in garden centres sounds like a bargain to me.. I recall Mr Vine Eye mentioning something about it earlier..  I'm not surprised they came from Holland...  nothing DA can do about that I think, but they have quite a powerful outreach, commercially, so it will be interesting to see developments on that front as to whether they can put a stop to it..

    @Marlorena it's one thing I can never understand.  How they can be sent from Holland and still manage to be cheaper to buy.  I lived in Madrid for a little while5 years ago, Bailey's Cream Liqueur was cheaper there than here!!  I suppose they have a tighter profit margin.........

    @edhelka.....thank you.  I wont do any bending but will just give it some support to stop it potentially snapping in the wind.

    ...I gather production costs are significantly cheaper and may involve eastern european connections... the roses may also be grafted onto different rootstocks than what we are used to... it's the trade off...

    No idea about Bailey's though...like you say, and I suppose it's what the local market will support...

    Must be similar to the Corinne’s choice one I bought from the Garden Centre - £14.99 for PAOK. I did pop there the other day hoping I might be able to get a Graham Thomas but they didn’t have any of those ones.

    Ive not been to Tesco, I don’t think they’ve got any that I’d want based on the photos I’ve seen on Facebook.

    @Omori - I hate these winds, seem to be getting them more and more regularly each year. I can see a few casualties in the garden but the roses seem ok, so far!
